Film series

Billy Loomis first appeared in Scream (1996). A year after the murder of Maureen Prescott, a series of murders begin in Woodsboro, California. After Sidney Prescott, the daughter of Maureen, receives a threatening phone call, she is chased throughout her home by a masked individual involved in the murders. After the chase, Billy arrives and comforts Sidney, but is arrested as a suspect after dropping a cellular phone. After Billy's arrest, Sidney receives another threatening phone call, leading to Billy's release. Billy encounters Sidney at school, but the resulting conversation leaves her upset. He later arrives at the home of Stu Macher during a party and reconciles with Sidney. After a conversation, the two sleep together. The killer arrives soon after and seemingly stabs Billy to death. Following a chase, Sidney is startled by Billy, still alive. After obtaining a pistol, he shoots Randy Meeks, revealing himself to be a killer. Sidney runs into Stu, who reveals a voice changer that gives him the voice of the caller, revealing himself to be Billy's accomplice. Billy tells Sidney that her mother slept with his father, causing Billy's mother to abandon him. Billy and Stu wound each other to attempt to place the blame of the killings on Sidney's father, Neil, who had earlier been kidnapped. When Gale Weathers arrives, Billy and Stu are distracted long enough for Sidney to flee. After a struggle, she manages to stab Billy and drop a television set on Stu. Billy makes an attempt to kill Sidney, but is shot by Gale. After Randy warns that horror killers come back for last scare, Billy reaches out before being shot in the head by Sidney, killing him. [2]

In Scream (2022), Billy appears in the form of hallucinations experienced by Samantha Carpenter, his daughter. He first appears to her in a mirror at a hospital and continues to appear to her in various locations, including in a rear-view mirror of a car, in a mirror in Stu Macher's house, and finally, appearing as Sam looks at her reflection in a car window. Throughout the encounters, he encourages Sam to embrace her heritage and become a killer, encouraging her to pick up a knife as she defends herself against her boyfriend, Richie Kirsch, who had been revealed as one of the latest Ghostface killers. [2]

In Scream VI (2023), Sam continues to experience hallucinations of Billy. After entering a theater filled with Ghostface evidence and items from the various murders throughout the years, Sam sees Billy in the reflection of a display case that contains his Ghostface robe and his knife, with Billy showing approval for the theater. Later, after returning to the theater, Sam returns to the display case to retrieve Billy's knife, with him calling the knife a good choice and his favorite. [2]

Other appearances

In Scream 2 (1997), after Mickey Altieri reveals himself as a killer to Sidney, Debbie Salt arrives with Gale at gunpoint, revealing herself as Mickey's accomplice. Sidney quickly recognizes her as Billy's mother, Nancy Loomis. During the encounter, she reveals her motive to be revenge before eventually being shot by Cotton Weary and then by Sidney to make sure that she was dead. [2]

In Stab, the fictional film within a film based on the Ghostface murders, Billy Loomis was portrayed by Luke Wilson. [3]

In Scream 3 (2000), after Ghostface reveals himself to be Roman Bridger, he tells Sidney that he helped inspire Billy as he had shown Billy footage of his father with Sidney's mother, Maureen. [2]

In Scream 4 (2011), after the latest Ghostface killers, Charlie Walker and Jill Roberts, are revealed, Charlie compares them to Billy and Stu as they enact a plan to stab each other. [2]

In 2024, when unmasked, Billy appeared in the Ghostface outfit in the "Khaos Reigns" downloadable content of Mortal Kombat 1 using Skeet Ulrich's likeness. [4] Roger L. Jackson also returned to voice the masked character in the game. [5] [6]
