Bindiya is a social novel by Bhojpuri author Ramnath Pandey. It is the first novel written in Bhojpuri. [1] [2] It was published in 1956 by Sekhar Publication of Chhapra. Thematically, it is based on life and problems of the village lifestyle. [3] The story is set in a village of a common farmer Kodai his daughter Bindiya and her lover Mangra

Plot

Kodai is a small farmer whose daughter, Bindiya, who helps his father in farming. Bindiya loves a village man named Mangra. The Villain of the story is the son of a Landlord, who loves Bindiya and tries to marry her forcefully. [4]

<i>Nadiya Ke Paar</i> (1982 film)

Nadiya Ke Paar is a 1982 Indian Awadhi language drama film directed by Govind Moonis (Dube). Based on the first half of the Hindi novel Kohbar Ki Shart by Keshav Prasad Mishra, the movie is set in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. It featured an ensemble cast comprising Sachin, Sadhana Singh, Inder Thakur, Mitali, Savita Bajaj, Sheela David, Leela Mishra and Soni Rat. The film was recorded a "Super Hit" at the box office.

Ganga Maiyya Tohe Piyari Chadhaibo is a Bhojpuri film released in 1963 directed by Kundan Kumar. It was the first-ever Bhojpuri film, and starred Kumkum, Ashim Kumar and Nazir Hussain. It had music by Chitragupta, lyrics by Shailendra and songs sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammad Rafi.

In the field of literature, Bihar has produced a number of writers in its regional languages like Bhojpuri Maithili language, Magahi language, Angika and Bajjika including Bhikhari Thakur, Heera Dom, Viveki Rai, Satishwar Sahay Verma etc are writers of Bhojpuri, Vidyapati in maithilli. Besides its regional languages, Bihar also have produced writes in Hindi including Raja Radhika Raman Prasad Sinha, Kumar vansi, Acharya Ramlochan Saran, Acharya Shivpujan Sahay, Divakar Prasad Vidyarthy, Ramdhari Singh 'Dinkar', Ram Briksh Benipuri, Phanishwar Nath 'Renu', Gopal Singh "Nepali", Ramesh Chandra Jha and Baba Nagarjun. Writer and Buddhist scholar Mahapandit Rahul Sankrityayan was born in Uttar Pradesh but spent his life in the land of Buddha, i.e., Bihar. Hrishikesh Sulabh is a short story writer, playwright and theatre critic. Arun Kamal and Aalok Dhanwa are poets.

Bhikhari Thakur

Bhikari Thakur (1887–1971) was an Indian Bhojpuri language poet, playwright, lyricist, actor, folk dancer, folk singer and social activist, popularly known as the "Shakespeare of Bhojpuri". He published 29 books in his life including plays, poem etc. His most famous plays are Bidesiya and Gabarghichor, which is often compared with Bertolt Brecht’s The Caucasian Chalk Circle. He is also known as the father of the Bidesiya folk theatre tradition.

Dinesh Bhramar Bhojpuri poet

Dinesh Bhramar is an eminent Hindi and Bhojpuri poet from Bihar, India. He has been credited to introduce the Ghazal and Ruba'i in Bhojpuri literature.

<i>Piya Rakhiah Senurwa Ke Laaj</i>

Piya Rakhiya Senurwa Ke Laaj is a 1987 Bhojpuri film, directed by K. Vinod and produced by V.P Vishwakarma, starring Kunal, Bandini Mishra, Rahul Vishwakarma, Surinder Shinda, Preeti Sapru, a special appearance by Sanjay Vishwakarma and more. This film was one of the highest grossing bhojpuri film during the initial release. This Bhojpuri film won numerous awards and accolodes from public as well as critics. Piya Rakhiah Senurwa ke laaj emerged as the highest grossing bhojpuri film during that period of time and hence regarded as a cult classic "Super-Hit" Bhojpuri Film.

Moti BA or Motilal Upadhyay was a Bhojpuri poet, writer and lyricist. He has written many Bhojpuri poems, novels and lyrics of Bhojiwood and Bollywood films. For his works in Bhojpuri he received Bhasha Samman Award in 2001. He has written many songs and translated many English works in Bhojpuri.

Rameshwar Singh Kashyap was a Bhojpuri playwright, screenwriter and professor of Hindi at Patna University. He is best known for his Bhojpuri play Loha Singh which was gained immense popularity on Radio in 1970s. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1991.

Loha Singh is a Bhojpuri play by playwright Rameshwar Singh Kashyap. This play revolves around a retired British Army veteran named Loha Singh. This play was a regular weekly feature of All India Radio Patna.

Manoranjan Prasad Sinha was a Bhojpuri poet, author and professor and Principal of Rajendra College, Chapra. He is famous for his Bhojpuri poem Firangia, which he wrote in 1921 during Non-cooperation movement. He was also elected as the president of 18th Bihar Hindi Sammelan at Motihari.

Avinash Chandra Vidyarthi was a Bhojpuri author and poet. He was from Shahpur near Arrah in Bhojpur District of Bihar. He has contributed significantly to Bhojpuri Literature. He was also one of the editors of Bhikhari Thakur Rachnavali, a compilations of Bhikhari Thakur works.

Prasiddha Narayan Singh was a Bhojpuri author and poet and a freedom fighter. He is known for his patriotic and encouring poems. Jawaharlal Nehru appreciated his poem Jawahar Swagat on his visit of Ballia during the freedom movement.

Jehal ke Sanadi is a Bhojpuri book by Awadh Bihari Suman which was first published in 1948. It was the first collection of short stories in Bhojpuri. It contains ten short stories based on different themes.

Kundan Singh-Kesar Bai is a Bhojpuri short story written by Acharya Shivpujan Sahay. This is the story of a married couple of husband Kundan Singh and Wife Kesar Bai.

Vimlanand Saraswati was an Indian Bhojpuri Writer and author and spiritualist. He is credited to write the first short story collection Jehal ke Sanadi in Bhojpuri.

Machhari is a Bhojpuri story written by Rameshwar Singh Kashyap. It was published in the April edition of weekly journal Anjor in 1960s.
