The Bishop of Middlesbrough is the Ordinary of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Middlesbrough in the Province of Liverpool, England. [1]

The diocese covers an area of 4,000 km2 (1,500 sq mi) of the counties of the East Riding of Yorkshire and North Yorkshire together with the City of York. The see is in the suburb of Coulby Newham in the town of Middlesbrough where the bishop's seat is located at the Cathedral Church of Saint Mary.

The diocese was erected on 20 December 1878 from the Diocese of Beverley. The current bishop is the Right Reverend Terence Drainey, 7th Bishop of Middlesbrough, who was appointed by the Holy See on 17 November 2007 and consecrated on 25 January 2008. [2]

The Diocese of Davenport is a Latin Church ecclesiastical jurisdiction or diocese of the Catholic Church for the southeastern quarter of the U.S. state of Iowa. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Middlesbrough is a Latin Rite Roman Catholic diocese based in Middlesbrough, England and is part of the province of Liverpool. It was founded on 20 December 1878, with the splitting of the Diocese of Beverley which had covered all of Yorkshire. The Bishop's See is in Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough, at St Mary's Cathedral.

Roman Catholic Diocese of Beverley

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Beverley is an historical diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in England. It took its name after the town of Beverley in the East Riding of Yorkshire, although the episcopal see was located in the city of York. The diocese was established in 1850 and was replaced by two dioceses in 1878: Middlesbrough and Leeds. It was restored as a titular see in 1969.
