Marketing and promotion

In early August 2011, a viral marketing website titled allrisefortheblackmass.com was created. [6] The website, described as a "mysterious teaser" site for an "unknown event" in a press release, featured nothing but a countdown timer set to go off on October 11, 2011. [7] About three weeks later on August 28, the website was revealed to be a promotion for a new album by This Is Hell titled Black Mass. [8] The album's title track was made available for streaming online on August 31, [9] and "Salt the Earth" was available on September 15. [10]

This Is Hell's first tour in support of Black Mass will be a late 2011 North American tour opening for Underoath, Comeback Kid and The Chariot. [9]

Deafheaven is an American post-metal band formed in 2010. Originally based in San Francisco, the group began as a two-piece with singer George Clarke and guitarist Kerry McCoy, who recorded and self-released a demo album together. Following its release, Deafheaven recruited three new members and began to tour. Before the end of 2010, the band signed to Deathwish Inc. and later released their debut album Roads to Judah, in April 2011. A follow-up album, Sunbather, was released in 2013 to wide critical acclaim, becoming one of the best reviewed albums of the year in the United States. Radiosurgery is the seventh studio album by American rock band New Found Glory. It was first released on October 3, 2011 in Europe, before its US release on October 4 through independent label Epitaph Records. It is the band's final studio album to feature founding guitarist Steve Klein. To follow up predecessor Not Without a Fight (2009), the band began writing new material during their stint on the 2010 Honda Civic Tour. After self-producing a set of demos and contacting long-term record producer Neal Avron, the band went on to record the album in Avron's home recording studio over a period of three months in 2011. The quintet set out to write an album that paid homage to classic punk rock records that first inspired them to form a band during the 1990s. Listening extensively to the likes of early Green Day and Ramones, New Found Glory strove to create a sound that could "bridge the gap" between old and new generations of the genre.
