The park commonly known as Boat Basin Park is officially named Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Park, situated in Clifton, Karachi. Established in the 1960s by the Karachi Development Authority (KDA), the park spans 55 acres of land and eventually came under the management of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC). In recent years, the park has been the subject of controversy, alongside neighboring Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim and Beach Park , due to KMC's decision to demolish their outer boundary walls. This move, which KMC officials claim is solely for aesthetic improvement, has been met with public protest by residents who suspect the demolition is a prelude to commercial exploitation of the valuable public park land. The administrative control of the park was formally transferred from KDA to KMC in a related development. [5]
