The Alaska Legislature is the state legislature of the U.S. state of Alaska. It is a bicameral institution consisting of the 40-member Alaska House of Representatives and the 20-member Alaska Senate. There are 40 House Districts (1–40) and 20 Senate Districts (A–T). With a total of 60 lawmakers,the Alaska Legislature is the smallest bicameral state legislature in the United States and the second-smallest of all state legislatures. There are no term limits for either chamber. The Alaska Legislature meets in the Alaska State Capitol in Juneau. The current meeting since 2023 is the 33rd Alaska State Legislature. The previous meeting,the 32nd Alaska State Legislature,met from 2021 to 2023.
Jay Sterner Hammond was an American politician of the Republican Party,who served as the fourth governor of Alaska from 1974 to 1982. Hammond was born in Troy,New York and served as a Marine Corps fighter pilot in World War II with the Black Sheep Squadron. In 1946,he moved to Alaska where he worked as a bush pilot. Hammond served as a state representative from 1959 to 1965 and as a state senator from 1967 to 1973. From 1972 until 1974 he was the mayor of the Bristol Bay Borough. Then,in 1974,he was elected governor of Alaska.
Michael Anthony Stepovich was an American lawyer and politician who served as the last non-acting Governor of the Territory of Alaska. Stepovich served as Territorial Governor from 1957 to 1958,and Alaska was given U.S. statehood in 1959.
Robert Bruce Atwood was an American journalist who served as the long-time editor and publisher of the Anchorage Times. He was also an early advocate of Alaska statehood.
The Alaska political corruption probe refers to a 2003 to 2010 widespread investigation by the Public Integrity Section of the U.S. Department of Justice,the Federal Bureau of Investigation,and the Internal Revenue Service into political corruption of nine then-current or former Alaskan state lawmakers,as well as Republican US Representative Don Young and then-US Senator,Republican Ted Stevens. Sometimes referred to as "The Corrupt Bastards Club" or the "Operation Polar Pen",the investigation focused on the oil industry,fisheries and for-profit prison industries.
John Howard Lindauer II is an American economist who served as chancellor for the University of Alaska Anchorage from 1976 to 1978 then was Dean of the School of Business and Public Affairs. He was the Republican Party candidate for governor of Alaska in 1998,but ultimately ended up pleading no contest to campaign finance violations. He is the father of Susan Lindauer and John Howard Lindauer III,and lived in Alaska from 1976 until 2002. He currently resides in Chicago.
The 25th Alaska State Legislature served for a term lasting from January 16,2007,to January 19,2009. All forty representatives and one-half of the senate were elected to their terms on November 7,2006. The remaining ten senators were elected to their terms on November 2,2004.

He also served on the Labor &Workforce Development,Military &Veterans' Affairs,and Public Safety Finance Subcommittees,for the 28th Legislature. Bob Lynn is a retired fighter pilot with the United States Air Force and a Vietnam Veteran.
Chris Tuck is an American politician from the state of Alaska. A member of the Democratic Party,he previously served member of the Alaska House of Representatives,representing the 23rd and 29th Districts in Anchorage from 2008 to 2023. He was the Majority Leader of the Alaska Independent Democratic Coalition. Previously,Tuck served on the Anchorage School Board. Tuck had run unsuccessfully for the State House in 2004 and 2006 before winning election in 2008.
James F. "Pete" Petersen is a former member of the Alaska House of Representatives from District 25 in Northeast Anchorage. He introduced well known bills to outlaw price gouging by Alaska oil refineries and to require health insurance policies to cover treatment for autism. Petersen is a member of the Democratic Party.
Neal Winston Foster is a member of the Alaska House of Representatives,representing the 39th District,which is centered on Nome,Alaska. He has served in the House since November 15,2009. He was appointed to the House to replace his father,Richard Foster,who had died in office the previous month. In the 27th Alaska State Legislature,Foster joined along with the other three Democrats from Western Alaska,Bryce Edgmon,Bob Herron and Reggie Joule,as members in the Republican-led majority caucus in the House.
Frederick John Dyson was a Republican member of the Alaska Senate,serving since 2003. He represented District I from 2003 through 2012 until redistricting placed him in District F in 2013. District I contained the core community of Eagle River,where Dyson resides,and stretched across the northern edge of Anchorage municipal boundaries to Government Hill,also including the core area of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. After being redistricted again in 2012 he declined to run for reelection in 2014 against another incumbent,Anna Fairclough.

He served as the 18th speaker of the Alaska House of Representatives from 1949 to 1951.
