Bobby Lynn Brantley (born April 6, 1948) is an American Republican politician from the State of Florida. He served one term as 13th Lieutenant Governor of Florida, from 1987 to 1991. [2]

Brantley began his political career in 1978 when he was elected to the Florida House of Representatives from a district based in Seminole and Lake Counties. He was reelected three times and represented parts of Central Florida in the House until in 1986.

In 1986, he won the Republican nomination for lieutenant governor, defeating Marilyn Evans-Jones, Betty Easley, and Tom Bush to become the running-mate for Tampa Mayor Bob Martinez, the Republican nominee for governor. In the general election, Martinez and Brantley defeated the Democratic ticket, consisting of State Rep. Steve Pajcic for governor and State Sen. Frank Mann for lieutenant governor, by 54.56 to 45.44%.

Brantley did not seek reelection in 1990, and retired from political office in 1991. As of 2011 he is a consultant and lobbyist at one of Florida's oldest law firms, Shutts & Bowen. [3] [ dead link ]

2010 United States gubernatorial elections

The 2010 United States gubernatorial elections were held on November 2, 2010, in 37 states and two territories. As in most midterm elections, the party controlling the White House lost ground. Democrats took five governorships from the Republicans, while Republicans took 11 governorships from the Democrats. An independent won one governorship previously held by a Republican, while a Republican won one governorship previously held by an independent. Republicans held a majority of governorships for the first time since before the 2006 elections. One state, Louisiana, had no election for governor, but it did feature a special election for lieutenant governor.

George Stephen LeMieux is an American former politician who was a United States Senator from Florida from 2009 to 2011. He is chairman of the Florida-based law firm of Gunster Yoakley & Stewart and was chief of staff to Governor Charlie Crist. He was the Deputy Florida Attorney General and is credited with spearheading Crist's successful campaign for governor. On August 28, 2009, Crist announced he would appoint LeMieux as U.S. Senator to replace Mel Martínez, who weeks earlier had announced he would resign as soon as Crist announced his successor. On April 5, 2011, LeMieux formally announced that he would run against incumbent Democratic Senator Bill Nelson in 2012, but dropped out of the race in June 2012.

Charlie Collins is a businessman and Republican politician in Arkansas. Russell Davis Carter, known as Davy Carter, is the Republican former Speaker of the Arkansas House of Representatives, a position which he held from 2013 to 2015. A resident of Cabot in Lonoke County, Carter represented District 43 from 2009 to 2015. Because of term limits, he was ineligible to seek reelection in 2014 and was succeeded by fellow Cabot Republican, Tim Lemons, a civil engineer. However, the term limits were modified in 2014, and Carter's successor as Speaker, Jeremy Gillam, continued for a second term as the presiding officer in Gillam's fourth term in the House.
