The Washington Commanders are a professional American football team based in the Washington metropolitan area. The Commanders compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the National Football Conference (NFC) East division. The team plays its home games at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland; its headquarters and training facility are in Ashburn, Virginia. The Commanders have played more than 1,300 games and have won more than 600. Washington was among the first NFL franchises with a fight song, "Hail to the Commanders", which is played by their marching band after every home game touchdown. The Commanders are owned by a group managed by Josh Harris, who acquired the franchise from Daniel Snyder in 2023 for $6.05 billion.
Harold Warren Moon is an American former football quarterback who played professionally for 23 seasons. Frederick Douglass "Fritz" Pollard was an American professional football player and coach. In 1921, he became the first African-American head coach in the National Football League (NFL). Pollard and Bobby Marshall were the first two African-American players in the NFL in 1920. Football pioneer Walter Camp called Pollard "one of the greatest runners these eyes have ever seen."

Timm Lane Rosenbach is an American college football coach and former professional gridiron football player. He is the co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach for California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, a position he has held since 2024. Rosenbach was the head football coach at Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado, taking the position at the Division II school in December 2014 and remaining there until he resigned in December 2017 to become the offensive coordinator at Montana. He played from 1989 until 1995 in the National Football League (NFL) and the Canadian Football League (CFL). Rosenbach attended Washington State University and was selected in the first round of the 1989 NFL supplemental draft.
Mark DeWayne Moseley is an American former professional football player who was a placekicker in the National Football League (NFL) for 16 seasons. He played for Philadelphia Eagles (1970), the Houston Oilers (1971–72), the Washington Redskins (1974–86), and the Cleveland Browns (1986). Raymond Paul Flaherty was an American professional football player and coach who spent 18 total seasons in the National Football League (NFL) as both a player and a coach. He played college football for the Gonzaga Bulldogs and played for three NFL teams, most notably the New York Giants. After Flaherty's playing career ended, his jersey number 1 was retired by the New York Giants in 1935, making it the first jersey number to be retired in NFL history. He was a member of three NFL championship teams, one as a player and two as a head coach. Flaherty was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1976.

He has been active in the NFL since 2001, most prominently as Atlanta Falcons head coach from 2015 to 2020. His career in coaching began in college football, spent mostly with the Hofstra Pride in the late 1990s. Quinn has been a defensive line coach for the San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins, and New York Jets, and as defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks, Florida Gators, and Dallas Cowboys. Prior to coaching, he competed in the hammer throw and played football at Salisbury University.
Chy Davidson is a former American football wide receiver who played two seasons with the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the New England Patriots in the eleventh round of the 1981 NFL supplemental draft. He played college football at the University of Rhode Island and attended Bayside High School in Queens, New York. Davidson was also a member of the Washington Redskins and Washington Federals.
