Bohdan Dariiovych Sehin (born 1976, in Borshchiv) is a Ukrainian composer, [1] and organizer of music programs.

Biography

He was born in 1976, in Borshchiv, Ternopil Oblast. In 1999, he graduated from the Lviv Conservatory (class of Prof. M. Skoryk). [2] The composer's music is constantly performed in Ukraine and abroad. [3] [4] He has been part of musical collaborations with the Polish Institute in Kyiv, the Goethe-Institut, and the Austrian Cultural Forum. [5] [6] Simultaneously, in 2012, Bohdan Sehin began working as Commercial Director for the Development of Contemporary Music of the Lviv Regional Philharmonic and Executive Director of the International Festival of Contemporary Music "Contrasts."

The Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Lviv National Philharmonic is one of the oldest symphony orchestras in Ukraine.

The Symphony No. 3 in B minor by the Ukrainian composer Borys Lyatoshynsky was completed in 1951, with the final movement themed "Peace will conquer war." The symphony was first performed in Kyiv on 23 October 1951, by the Kyiv Philharmonic, conducted by Natan Rakhlin. Criticised by the Soviet authorities on ideological grounds, the composer was forced to rework the symphony, and to remove the subtitle of the finale. The first performance of the revised version took place in Leningrad in 1955.

Premieres of the Season is an international music festival founded by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine and the Kyiv Organization of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine on December 1, 1988. The initiator and music director of the festival is Ukrainian composer Ihor Shcherbakov. Since 1989, it has been held annually in Kyiv, Ukraine, in the Spring, from late March to early April. In 2015, it was held from May 24 - June 1.

Kontrasty or Contrasts is an international festival of contemporary music held in Lviv, Ukraine, annually since 1995. The festival's concept is aimed at presenting "contemporary Ukrainian music in the context of World Music", and "revealing the diversity of modern forms, styles, genres, and interpretations." The festival usually takes place in September and October. Along with such festivals as "Two Days and Two Nights of New Music," "Kyiv Music Fest" and others, "Contrasts" is one of the leading festivals of modern classical music in Ukraine.

Ensemble Nostri Temporis(ENT) is a Ukrainian ensemble that specializes in performing contemporary classical music and promoting the work of contemporary composers, including Ukrainian. Ensemble Nostri Temporis also organizes art events in Ukraine dedicated to new music.

Collegium Musicum Lviv is an artistic community and music agency in Lviv, Ukraine that specializes in classical music. The activities of the music agency are aimed at promoting music and poetry, involving the public in co-creation, and bridging the gap between the performer and the listener.
