Bortolami is a contemporary art gallery founded in 2005 by Stefania Bortolami and Amalia Dayan. [1] [2]
Before opening the gallery, Bortolami worked for Anthony d'Offay. [3] Dayan was a director with Gagosian Gallery. [4]
The gallery first opened a 370 m2 (4,000 sq ft) space at West 25th Street in Chelsea. [5] From 2010 to 2016, the gallery operated a space on West 20th Street in Chelsea. It has since been located in a 840 m2 (9,000 sq ft) space at 39 Walker Street in Tribeca, [6] [7] but also organizes 12-month long contemporary art exhibitions in unlikely locations for its Artist/City project that pairs an artist with an American city. [8] Artists who have participated in the project include Daniel Buren, [9] Eric Wesley [10] and Tom Burr. [11]

Orchard was an artist-run exhibition and event space located at 47 Orchard Street in New York's Lower East Side from 2005-2008. The gallery was run as a for-profit limited liability corporation founded for the project. The partners included artists, filmmakers, critics, art historians, and curators. Orchard was among early contemporary art projects and galleries that moved onto Orchard and generally the Lower East Side below Delancey Street along with Miguel Abreu Gallery, Reena Spaulings, and Scorched Earth. Brandon Joseph noted, "the Orchard 'project' treaded a fine—and perhaps ultimately impossible—line between self-reflexivity and self-complicity, which could veer at times into self-promotion."
Aki Sasamoto is a New York-based artist working in performance and installation. Blank Forms is a not-for-profit arts organization based in New York City. It was founded by Lawrence Kumpf in 2016 as a platform for the preservation and presentation of experimental and time-based performance practices.
