The Boston District Independents were formed in 2012, by the four remaining Boston Bypass Independent councillors on Boston Borough Council. They are Councillors Alison Austin, Richard Austin, Helen Staples and David Witts. [1]
Caused by the resignation of Independent Councillor Brian Rush (formerly a member of the Boston Bypass Independents). [2] The Boston District Independents declined to stand and instead assisted another Independent candidate, Maggie Peberdy who came second with 139 votes or 26.7%. [3]
At Boston Borough Council's Annual General Meeting in May 2013, the group was reconstituted as "Independent Group 2". [4]
The Metropolitan Borough of Wigan is a metropolitan borough of Greater Manchester, England. It is named after its largest town, Wigan but covers a far larger area which includes the towns of Atherton, Ashton-in-Makerfield, Golborne, Hindley, Ince-in-Makerfield, Leigh and Tyldesley. The Boston Bypass Independents were elected to Boston Borough Council at the 2007 local elections. The party campaigned on a wide range of issues but principally on the more vigorous promotion of a bypass for the town of Boston, Lincolnshire.

The 2012 police and crime commissioner elections were polls held in most police areas in England and Wales on Thursday 15 November. The direct election of police and crime commissioners (PCCs) was originally scheduled for May 2012 but was postponed in order to secure the passage of the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 through the House of Lords. The government considers the elected commissioners to have a stronger mandate than the "unelected and invisible police authorities that they replace". The elections took place alongside by-elections for the House of Commons in Cardiff South and Penarth, Corby and Manchester Central, and a mayoral election in Bristol.

The 2016 City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council election took place on 5 May 2016. This was on the same day as other local elections. One councillor was elected in each ward of the City of Bradford Metropolitan District, for a four-year term. Each ward is represented by three councillors, the election of which is staggered, so only one third of the councillors were elected in this election.
The 2021 Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council election took place on 6 May 2021 to elect members of Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council in England. This election was held on the same day as other local elections. The election was originally due to take place in May 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This delay meant those elected would serve only a three-year term.
