Boxer Vadivelu

Boxer Vadivelu was a fisherman and criminal from Power Kuppam, Kasimedu. He started by collecting extortion money from the markets at the Royapuram fishing harbour. Vadivelu then transported foreign liquor and goods from Kasimedu, Royapuram and Chennai harbours, and was also involved in smuggling, contract killing, and extortion.[ citation needed ] His gang attacked the office of the Tharasu magazine in 1991, killing its employees. [1] He obtained the political patronage of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam,[ vague ] which was followed by a rivalry between him and gangster Ayodhya Kuppam Veeramani after this incident. Vadivelu played a cameo part in the 1997 crime movie Omkaram , being arrested and sentenced to prison afterwards.[ when? ]

Death

In November 1999 he died in Chennai Central Prison [3] due to liver failure, which resulted in a riot. [4] [5]

Pokkiri (transl.Rogue) is a 2007 Indian Tamil-language action film directed by Prabhu Deva. It is the Tamil remake of the 2006 Telugu film Pokiri starring Mahesh Babu. North Chennai is a geographic term used to refer to the northern part of Chennai city. Though its definition has varied with time and context, it is generally accepted among historians that North Chennai is used for the part of Chennai city situated north of the Coovum River. Encompassing the Fort St George and Georgetown areas from which the city originated, North Chennai is generally considered an area of stagnant growth, but now it is developing that has already reached saturation as a real estate choice. The Jewish Cemetery is a cemetery for the Paradesi Jews of Chennai, India. It is located off Lloyd's Road. The cemetery remains the only memoir of the once significant Jewish population of Chennai, which has now almost become extinct. Kasimedu is a hamlet in the neighbourhood of Royapuram, in Chennai district of Tamil Nadu state in the peninsular India. This hamlet is occupied by fishermen whose families depend on the fishing harbour and the fish market nearby. It stretches for about 2 km, near Ennore fishing harbour along the shore, north of Chennai Port. Large numbers of victims from Kasimedu fishing community were found during the tsunami observed on 26 December 2004. Kasimedu is located at about 5 km from Chennai Beach railway station. Near about 200 tons of fishes are brought to Kasimedu, daily. State Highway 114 passes through Kasimedu.

Basin bridge is a neighbourhood in Chennai district of Tamil Nadu state in the peninsular India. It is located at an altitude of about 28 m above the mean sea level with the geographical coordinates of 13°06′23.5″N80°16′31.2″E. George Town, Royapuram, Kondithope, Mannadi Vannarapettai, Tondiarpet, Sowcarpet, Vallalar Nagar and Kasimedu are some of the important neighbourhoods of Basin Bridge area.
