Brad Lynch (born 11 July 1997) was a professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Western Bulldogs in the Australian Football League (AFL). Lynch plays as a half-back, and has been compared to former Bulldogs captain Robert Murphy by defence coach Steven King because of his "kicking skills and lightning speed". [1]

Originally from Mandurah, [1] Lynch originally played for Swan Districts in the West Australian Football League. He was drafted by the Bulldogs with pick 11 in the 2016 rookie draft, their first selection. [2] In 2016, Lynch played 22 games for the Bulldogs' Victorian Football League side Footscray, including their premiership. [3] He played only 11 games in 2017 after hamstring injuries. Lynch also signed a one-year contract extension, tying him to the Bulldogs until 2018. [4] In 2018, Lynch made his debut in round 15 against Geelong at Docklands Stadium. [5] He extended his contract by two years (to 2020) after playing the last nine games of the season. Sam Power, list manager for the Bulldogs, said "We clearly believe Brad has an exciting future in the game, and we’re delighted to see him commit for a further two seasons." [6]

Lynch was delisted at the conclusion of the 2020 AFL season after playing just 9 games, all in the 2018 AFL season. [7]

The 2009 Australian Football League season commenced on 26 March and concluded on 26 September. It was the 113th season of the VFL/AFL competition and the 20th under the name 'Australian Football League', having switched from 'Victorian Football League' after 1989. The season consisted of 22 home and away rounds and four rounds of finals, culminating in the 2009 AFL Grand Final which determined the 2009 AFL premiers. Geelong won the Grand Final against St Kilda.

The 2016 season was the Western Bulldogs' 91st year in the Australian Football League (AFL). It was just their second year under coach Luke Beveridge, with Robert Murphy being appointed captain for the second year in a row. However, due to an injury Murphy suffered in the opening rounds of the season, Easton Wood took over the captaincy for the remainder of the year. The club's regular season began on the 27th of March against the Fremantle Dockers at Marvel Stadium. The Bulldogs finished off the home & away season with 15 wins and 7 losses, placing them at 7th on the ladder. The Bulldogs went on to win the 2016 AFL Grand Final, capturing their first VFL/AFL Premiership since 1954.
