Braedyn Duncan Locke (born December 8, 2003) is an American football quarterback for the Wisconsin Badgers. He previously played for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Early life and high school

Locke was born in Rockwall, Texas,[ citation needed ] where he attended Rockwall High School. In his high school career he passed for 11,182 yards and a Class 6A Texas state record 127 touchdowns. [1] Locke committed to play college football at the Mississippi State University. [2] [3]

College career

Mississippi State

Locke was redshirted in 2022, after which he entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal. [4] [5]

Wisconsin

Locke transferred to the University of Wisconsin to continue his college career. [6] [7] In week seven of the 2023 season, he entered the game after starting quarterback Tanner Mordecai went down with an injury. Locke completed 15 of 30 passes for 122 yards with one interception, while also losing a fumble, as the Badgers fell to Iowa 15–6. [8] He was announced as the starter for their week eight matchup as well as for the remainder of the season, after Mordecai was ruled out for the rest of the season. [9] [10] In Locke's first career start, he completed 21 of his 41 pass attempts for 240 yards and two touchdowns, as he led Wisconsin back from being down 18 points to beat Illinois. [11] For his performance, Locke was named the Big Ten Conference freshman of the week. [12] [13]

The 2015 Wisconsin Badgers football team represented the University of Wisconsin–Madison in the 2015 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Badgers, led by first-year head coach Paul Chryst, were members of the West Division of the Big Ten Conference and played their home games at Camp Randall Stadium. On January 13, 2015, the Badgers hired offensive coordinator Joe Rudolph. The Badgers were the media preseason favorites to win the Big Ten West division. During fall camp prior to the start of the season Chryst announced the Badgers would return to a pro-style punt scheme instead of the shield punt scheme, also known as the spread punt scheme. Two days after Wisconsin played in the Holiday Bowl defensive coordinator Dave Aranda was hired by LSU as their new defensive coordinator. At the end of the season, Wisconsin featured the #1 defense in college football, with opponents averaging just 13.1 points per game against the Badgers.
