Brenda Kupchick (born November 29,1964) is an American politician who served as the First Selectman of Fairfield,Connecticut from 2019 to 2023. She served in the Connecticut House of Representatives from the 132nd district from 2011 to 2019. [1] [2] She resigned on November 22,2019,after she was elected First Selectman of Fairfield,Connecticut. [3] She was Fairfield's second female First Selectman,after Jacquelyn Durrell,who served from 1983 to 1993. [4]
Kupchick ran for re-election in 2023 with running mate Brian Farnen,but was defeated by Democrat Bill Gerber. Despite her loss,she garnered more votes than her running mate,so she was elected to serve alongside Gerber and his running mate,Christine Vitale,on the Board of Selectmen.
Kupchick is a lifelong Fairfield resident and a third-generation Fairfielder,and prior to serving as State Representative served on the Fairfield RTM (1999-2003),and the Fairfield Board of Education (2003-2009). She is married to Peter G. Kupchick,with whom she has co-owned a small HVAC business with for 30 years,and has one adult son,Peter C. Kupchick.
