Brendon Leigh (born 8 July 1999) is a British E-sports driver. He won the F1 Esports Series in 2017 and 2018. [1] [2]

Career

Formula Ford 1600 Championship

Leigh drove in the 2019 BRSCC Formula Ford 1600 Championship, fulfilling a part-time role at Kevin Mills Racing. He competed in 11 races, and finished 13th in the championship. [3]

Esports

Leigh competed in the inaugural season of the Formula One Esports Series. The Englishman won the competition back-to-back in 2017 and 2018.

For the 2019 Formula One Esports Series he competed with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Esports Team. He finished the season in fifth with zero wins and two podiums, his best result being 2nd. The following year was much of the same thing, recording two podiums but again struggling to achieve a race win.

On 18th January 2021, Leigh announced that he had signed with the Ferrari Esports Team. [4] Leigh endured his worst season to date, scoring no wins and no podiums, slumping to 10th in the drivers standings.

During 2022, he had a much better season. He scored a podium at the Circuit of the Americas and finished 8th in the standings with 49 points (despite missing a race).

For the 2023 season, he signed for Alfa Romeo F1 Team KICK Esports, racing for the R8G E-Sports team. [5]

Lance Strulovitch, better known as Lance Stroll, is a Canadian and Belgian racing driver competing under the Canadian flag in Formula One. He has driven for Aston Martin since 2021, having previously driven for Williams and Racing Point. He was Italian F4 champion in 2014, Toyota Racing Series champion in 2015, and 2016 FIA European Formula 3 champion. He was part of the Ferrari Driver Academy from 2010 to 2015. Jarno Opmeer is a Dutch esports driver and former racing driver and is the 2020 and 2021 Formula One Esports Champion. He also competed in the Formula E: Accelerate Series with Mercedes-EQ. He currently competes in the Formula One Esports Series with Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Esports Team.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2019 Formula One World Championship</span> 70th season of FIA Formula One World Championship

The 2019 FIA Formula One World Championship was the motor racing championship for Formula One cars which marked the 70th running of the Formula One World Championship. The FIA Formula One Esports Series is a professional esports programme promoted by Formula 1. The programme was created in 2017 to involve the official Formula 1 video game and its community of players, providing a new avenue for greater engagement with the sport of Formula 1. In 2018, the official Formula 1 teams joined the programme for the first time to set up their own esports teams to compete in the Formula 1 Esports Series championship.

The 2022 F1 Esports Series Pro Championship was an esports competition for Formula One which was the sixth season of the Formula One Esports Series and the last installation to be named the "F1 Esports Series" before rebranding to F1 Sim Racing the next season. It was held in Formula One's official 2022 game.

The 2023–24 Formula One Sim Racing World Championship was an esports competition for Formula One which is the seventh season of the Formula One Esports Series and the first in the series to be named as the "Formula One Sim Racing Championship." It was held on Formula One's official 2023 game, featuring all ten teams from the real-life sport.
