The 2020 Formula One Esports Series was the fourth season of the Formula One Esports Series. [1] [2] It took place from October 14 to December 17, 2020. It was held on Formula One's official 2020 game. [3] As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic the championship had no fixed venue, and was instead held online and streamed on the official F1 Youtube channel.
David Tonizza and Red Bull Racing Esports entered the season as the reigning Drivers' and Teams' champions respectively. Red Bull Racing Esports successfully defended the Teams' Championship title for the second consecutive year, while Jarno Opmeer won the Drivers' Championship title for the first time, driving for Alfa Romeo Racing Orlen Esports. Points were awarded to the top 10 classified finishers in the race and one point was given to the driver who set the fastest lap inside the top ten. No extra points are awarded to the pole-sitter.

Formula One, commonly known as Formula 1 or F1, is the highest class of international racing for open-wheel single-seater formula racing cars sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). The FIA Formula One World Championship has been one of the world's premier forms of racing since its inaugural running in 1950. The word formula in the name refers to the set of rules all participants' cars must follow. A Formula One season consists of a series of races, known as Grands Prix. Esteban Manuel Gutiérrez Gutiérrez is a Mexican racing driver currently competing in the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship for Glickenhaus Racing and the 2023 IMSA SportsCar Championship for CrowdStrike Racing by APR. He is also a development driver for Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team.
Daniil Vyacheslavovich Kvyat is a Russian professional racing driver racing for Lamborghini Iron Lynx in the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship, and part-time for SS-Green Light Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Kvyat competed in Formula One between 2014–2017 and 2019–2020. He became the second Formula One driver from Russia and is the most successful of the three Russian drivers to date, with three podiums.
Hendrik Johannes Nicasius "Nyck" de Vries is a Dutch racing driver currently competing for Mahindra Racing in Formula E and Toyota Gazoo Racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship. He won the 2020–21 Formula E World Championship and the 2019 FIA Formula 2 Championship as well as the 2010 and 2011 Karting World Championships. He was signed to the McLaren Young Driver Programme from January 2010 until May 2019. De Vries made his Formula One debut in September 2022 as a substitute for Williams at the 2022 Italian Grand Prix. He joined Scuderia AlphaTauri for the 2023 season but was released after the 2023 British Grand Prix – the 10th race of that 22-race season.
Pierre Jean-Jacques Gasly is a French racing driver currently competing in Formula One for Alpine. He won the 2016 GP2 Series championship, and finished as runner-up in the 2014 Formula Renault 3.5 Series and the 2017 Super Formula Championship.
George William Russell is a British racing driver currently competing in Formula One for Mercedes. He previously raced for Williams from 2019 to 2021.
Zhou Guanyu is a Chinese racing driver who currently competes in Formula One for Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber. He is the first, and so far the only, Chinese driver to start a World Championship Formula One race. He competed in the FIA Formula 2 Championship for UNI-Virtuosi Racing from 2019 to 2021, having finished 3rd in the 2021 campaign.
Lando Norris is a British and Belgian racing driver currently competing in Formula One with McLaren, racing under the British flag.
Jarno Opmeer is a Dutch esports driver and former racing driver and is the 2020 and 2021 Formula One Esports Champion. He also competed in the Formula E: Accelerate Series with Mercedes-EQ. He currently competes in the Formula One Esports Series with Mercedes-AMG Petronas Esports Team.
The FIA Formula One Esports Series is a professional esports programme promoted by Formula 1. The programme was created in 2017 to involve the official Formula 1 video game and its community of players, providing a new avenue for greater engagement with the sport of Formula 1. In 2018, the official Formula 1 teams joined the programme for the first time to set up their own esports teams to compete in the Formula 1 Esports Series championship.
Igor Omura Fraga is a Japanese-born Brazilian racing driver, esports player, and former member of the Red Bull Junior Team. He currently competes in the 2024 Super GT Series for Anest Iwata Racing with Arnage in the GT300 class, and is a reserve driver for Nakajima Racing in the Super Formula Championship. He was the 2020 Toyota Racing Series champion, winning the title by six points ahead of Liam Lawson. Fraga also currently serves as the esports ambassador for the Super Formula Championship.
Marta García López is a Spanish professional racing driver who is set to compete in the 2024 Formula Regional European Championship with Prema Racing. She most recently competed in F1 Academy for the team in 2023, becoming the inaugural champion of the series with two races to spare. She is a race winner in the W Series and won titles including the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy and the Trofeo delle Industrie in 2015, the oldest kart race in the world.
F1 2020 is the official video game of the 2020 Formula 1 and Formula 2 Championships developed and published by Codemasters. It is the thirteenth title in the Formula 1 series developed by the studio and was released on 7 July for pre-orders of the Michael Schumacher Edition and 10 July for the Seventy Edition on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and, for the first time, Stadia. The game is the twelfth main series installment in the franchise, and it features the twenty-two circuits, twenty drivers and ten teams proposed in the provisional 2020 Formula 1 World Championship.

It was held on Formula One's official 2018 game. The championship was held at Gfinity Arena in London, United Kingdom. Brendon Leigh defended his Drivers' Championship title, while his team Mercedes-AMG Petronas Esports clinched its first championship title.
The 2021 Formula One Esports Series was the fifth season of the Formula One Esports Series. It started on 13 October 2021, and ended on 16 December 2021. It was held in Formula One's official 2021 game. Same as the previous year, the championship was held online due to COVID-19 pandemic and streamed on the official F1 YouTube Channel.
Formula E: Accelerate is a professional esports competition created by Formula E in 2021, following the success of 2020's event, the ABB Formula E Race at Home Challenge in support of UNICEF.
Brendon Leigh is a British E-sports driver. He won the F1 Esports Series in 2017 and 2018.
The 2022 F1 Esports Series Pro Championship was an esports competition for Formula One which was the sixth season of the Formula One Esports Series. It was held in Formula One's official 2022 game.
The 2023–24 Formula One Sim Racing World Championship is an esports competition for Formula One which is the seventh season of the Formula One Esports Series. It is held on Formula One's official 2023 game.
