The 2017 FIA Formula One Esports Series was the inaugural season of the Formula One Esports Series. It started on September 4, 2017, and ended on November 25, 2017. It was held on Formula One's official 2017 game.
Qualification was held over two stages. These stages were:
A total of 63,827 drivers took part in the qualifying stages, with 40 progressing to the semi-finals. 10 came from each of the platforms (Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC), 9 came from F1 affiliated leagues, and 1 was a specially-selected wildcard. [1]
The semi-final was held at the Gfinity Arena in London, the United Kingdom on 10 October 2017. Drivers were split into 4 groups of 10, and competed in two heat races - one at the Silverstone Circuit and the other at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace. The top 5 drivers on points in each heat after these two races progressed to the final. [2]

The final was held as a support category to the 2017 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, over 24–25 November 2017. Races were held at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps and Yas Marina Circuit. Drivers scored points in the same structure as the regular Formula One season for the first two races, and scored points in a 45-38-34-29-24-20-18-16-14-12-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 structure in the third.

The 1989 FIA Formula One World Championship was the 43rd season of FIA Formula One motor racing. It began on 26 March and ended on 5 November. Alain Prost won his third Drivers' Championship, and McLaren won the Constructors' Championship.
The GP2 Series was a form of open wheel motor racing introduced in 2005 following the discontinuation of the long-term Formula One feeder series, Formula 3000. The GP2 format was conceived by Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore, while Ecclestone also has the rights to the name GP1. The series was organized by Bruno Michel. In 2010, the GP3 Series class was launched, as a feeder class for the GP2 series. In 2017, the series was rebranded as the FIA Formula 2 Championship.
BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Cars is a class of single-seater stock-car-racing in the UK with custom-built cars, with races conducted on walled oval tracks of either shale or tarmac of approximately a quarter-mile in length. The cars follow open wheel design principles, and there are no horsepower restrictions for the engines. Drivers may use any engine they choose, with Chevrolet based small or big block V8 engines being the most popular. The season runs from March through to November, with occasional meetings over the Christmas period.
Superleague Formula was an open wheel single seater motor racing formula, which started in 2008, at Donington Park in the United Kingdom. The league introduced team sponsorship by association football clubs. It used the slogan 'The Beautiful Race: Football at 300 km/h'. By 2011 the link with football was fading with more than half the teams no longer associated with football teams. It was founded by businessmen Alex Andreu and Robin Webb. On 19 May 2010, Andreu stepped down in his role as series president, with Alfredo Brisac named as his successor not many weeks later. The season ran between April and November at the same time as most other European race series. Every team used identical cars and 750-horsepower V-12 engines. The Sonangol Group was the series' title sponsor from June 2009 until the end of the 2010 season.
The Jordan 191 was a Formula One car designed by Gary Anderson for use by Jordan Grand Prix in its debut season in 1991. Its best finish was in Canada and Mexico, where Andrea de Cesaris drove it to fourth place at both races. Driving the 191 at the 1991 Hungarian Grand Prix, Bertrand Gachot took the fastest lap of the race.

Jolyon Carlyle Palmer is a British former racing driver, broadcaster and journalist, who competed in Formula One from 2016 to 2017. Since retiring from racing, Palmer has been a pundit for the BBC, Channel 4 and F1TV.
Lando Norris is a British racing driver, who competes in Formula One for McLaren. Norris was runner-up in the Formula One World Drivers' Championship in 2024 with McLaren, and has won four Grands Prix across six seasons.
Arjun Maini is an Indian professional racing driver, currently competing in the DTM. He has previously also competed in FIA Formula 2 Championship with Trident Racing and Campos Racing. He was the winner of Force India's 'One in a Billion' driver hunt in 2011.
Jarno Opmeer is a Dutch esports driver and former racing driver, who competes in the Formula One Esports Series for Red Bull Racing. Opmeer has won two Formula One Sim Racing World Championship titles, which he won in 2020 and 2021 with Alfa Romeo and Mercedes, respectively.

The FIA Formula One Esports Series is a professional esports programme promoted by Formula 1. The programme was created in 2017 to involve the official Formula 1 video game and its community of players, providing a new avenue for greater engagement with the sport of Formula 1. In 2018, the official Formula 1 teams joined the programme for the first time to set up their own esports teams to compete in the Formula 1 Esports Series championship.
The FIA Formula 3 Championship is a third-tier international single-seater racing championship and organised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). The championship launched in 2019 as a feeder series for the FIA Formula 1 World Championship and FIA Formula 2 Championships. It was the result of a merger between two third-tier single-seater racing championships, the GP3 Series and the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. This championship is part of the FIA Global Pathway consolidation project plan. Unlike its co-predecessor, the Formula 3 European Championship, the series runs exclusively in support of Formula One races.
Igor Omura Fraga is a Japanese-born Brazilian racing driver, esports player, and former member of the Red Bull Junior Team. He currently competes for Nakajima Racing in the 2025 Super Formula Championship. He was the 2020 Toyota Racing Series champion, winning the title by six points ahead of Liam Lawson. Fraga also currently serves as the esports ambassador for the Super Formula Championship.

As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic the championship had no fixed venue, and was instead held online and streamed on the official F1 Youtube channel.

It was held on Formula One's official 2023 game, featuring all ten teams from the real-life sport.
The 2025 Formula One Sim Racing World Championship is an esports competition for Formula One which is the eighth season of the Formula One Esports Series and the second in the series to be named as the "Formula One Sim Racing Championship." It is held on Formula One's official 2024 game, featuring all ten teams from the real-life sport. The championship started on 14 January 2025 and will end on 27 March 2025.
