Patrick Gerard Spillane, better known as Pat Spillane, is an Irish former Gaelic football pundit and player. His league and championship career at senior level with the Kerry county team spanned seventeen years from 1974 to 1991. Spillane is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the game.
The Kildare County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), or Kildare GAA, is one of 12 county boards governed by the Leinster provincial council of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for the administration of Gaelic games in County Kildare. The 2019 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final was the 132nd final of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship and the culmination of the 2019 tournament, the top level of competition in Gaelic football. Reigning All-Ireland champions Dublin took on Munster champions Kerry, with Dublin bidding to become the first Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) male team to win five consecutive editions of the competition. The last time a football team had this chance was in 1982; however, Kerry failed, their own winning streak being brought to an end by a last-minute goal. By coincidence, Kerry provided the opposition for Dublin on this occasion.
Shaun Patton is an Irish goalkeeper who has played in that position in two different sports. A former professional soccer player in the League of Ireland with Derry City, Finn Harps and Sligo Rovers, Patton changed to Gaelic football in 2018, playing for St Eunan's and the Donegal county team. He has twice won the Ulster Senior Football Championship with Donegal.

Goals from Brian 'Bringus' Murray and sub PJ Ward ultimately led to the All-Ireland success that April day on a score of 2–10 to 1–06… Indeed, a number of that winning All Ireland team and younger Loch an Iuir success went on to distinguish themselves in the green and gold of Donegal and Ulster. These included Gary Walsh, Matt Gallagher and Brian Murray, who all played vital roles in Donegal's first ever All Ireland senior football final victory against Dublin in 1992.
