Briana Mastel (born November 8, 1994) is an American ice hockey player who currently plays for the Boston Pride in the National Women's Hockey League.
Mastel played for the Harvard Crimson team from 2013 to 2017, serving as team captain in her final season. As a senior she tied with her Harvard Crimson and future Boston Pride teammate Lexie Laing for the team lead in assists with 13. Across 128 NCAA games, she would score 40 points in four years. [1]
Briana Mastel signed one-year deals with the Boston Pride on July 22, 2019 and October 1, 2020. [2] She played in all 25 regular and post season games for the team. [3] [4] [5] Mastel's playing style has been described as both mobile and a defensive defender. [6] [7]
Mastel has a degree in Psychology from Harvard University, with a minor in Spanish. [8] She works as an assistant coach of the East Coast Wizards junior girls team. [9] Mastel also took part in the Boston Bruins Coaching academy as one of eight guest speakers at the 2019 event. She represented the Positive Coaching Alliance at the event that allowed coaches to receive certifications for the USA Hockey coaching education program. [10] Mastel is part of the Take the Lead organization that brings together Boston professional sports teams to tackle racism, inequality and discrimination. She participated in a Take the Lead PSA video to encourage diversity and inclusion. [11] [12]

William John Cleary Jr. is an American former ice hockey player, coach, and athletic administrator. He is an alumnus of Belmont Hill School, played on the United States men's national ice hockey team that won the gold medal in ice hockey at the 1960 Winter Olympics, and was inducted into the International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame in 1997.
Carl Joshua Young is an American former professional ice hockey right winger who played 44 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) in 1992–93 and competed in the 1992 Winter Olympics. A decorated college athlete, Young played four seasons with the Harvard Crimson program and was a member of the school's 1989 national championship. The New Jersey Devils selected him with the fifth overall in the 1989 NHL Supplemental Draft, though he never played for the team. Young signed with the Calgary Flames in 1990 and made his NHL debut with the team two years later. He was traded to the Boston Bruins mid-season. Young signed with the Florida Panthers prior to the 1993–94 season, but left the sport after becoming embroiled in a dispute with the team.

The Boston Pride were a professional women's ice hockey team based in Boston, Massachusetts. They were one of the four charter franchises of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF). The Pride played at Warrior Ice Arena, which is also the practice facility for the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League. The Pride won the inaugural Isobel Cup in 2016 and became the first professional women's ice hockey team to win three championship titles when they claimed consecutive victories in 2021 and 2022.
