Brigid Cassells is an Australian former lightweight rower. She won silver medals at two World Rowing Championships.
Raised in Canberra, Cassell's senior club rowing was from the Australian National University Boat Club.
Cassell first made New South Wales state representation in 1983 in the lightweight four which contested the Victoria Cup at the Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships. [1] She raced that event twice again in 1984 and 1990 when she stroked the New South Wales four. [2]
In ANU colours she contested national championship events at the Australian Rowing Championships. She rowed at five in a composite Australian Capital Territory eight competing for the open women's eight title in 1982. [3] In 1983, she was in the three seat of a composite eight comprising the New South Wales state selected lightweight plus heavyweight women's fours. [4]
Cassells made her Australian representative debut in the lightweight eight at the inaugural world lightweight championships - the 1984 World Rowing Championships in Montreal. The women's eight was a demonstration rather than a championship event but the Australian girls with Cassells in the five seat rowed to a second place. [5] [6]
At the Milan 1988 Cassells rowed in the bow seat of the lightweight coxless four which took the silver medal. [7]
Marguerite Houston is an Australian former lightweight rower. She is an Australian national champion, an Olympian and two-time World Champion. She contested state representative events at nine successive Australian Rowing Championships.
Elizabeth Kell is an Australian former rower, a national champion, world champion and an Olympian.
James Stewart Battersby is an Australian former national champion and Olympic level rower.
Catriona Sens is an Australian former representative rower. She was a national champion, an underage 2002 world champion, a dual Olympian and won a silver medal at the 2006 World Rowing Championships. She rowed in the Australian women's eight at the 2004 Athens Olympics and in the double scull at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Paul Anthony Thompson MBE is an Australian elite level rowing coach and former rower. As a rower he was an Australian under-age champion, won a silver medal at the 1985 U23 World Championships and rowed in senior King's Cup eights for both South Australia and New South Wales. He has coached Australian and British crews to World Championship titles and Olympic medals including taking Kate Slatter and Megan Still to Australia's first women's Olympic rowing gold at Atlanta 1996. By 2012 he was Great Britain's head coach for women and lightweights and took British crews to three gold and two silver medals at London 2012. Since 2022 he has been Rowing Australia's High Performance Director.
Amanda Cross is an Australian national champion and national representative lightweight rower. She represented Australia at four World Rowing Championships and at the 1986 Commonwealth Games.
Gayle Toogood is an Australian former lightweight rower. She was a thirteen-time national champion and competed at World Championships over a ten-year period from 1984 to 1994. She won medals at two World Championships and at the 1986 Commonwealth Games.
Denise Rennex is an Australian former lightweight rower. She was a national varsity champion and won a bronze medal at the 1985 World Championships.
Leeanne Whitehouse is an Australian former lightweight rower. She was a seven-time national champion and won a silver medal at the 1988 World Rowing Championships.

Edward V "Terry" O'Hanlon is an Australian former rowing coxswain. He was seven times an Australian national champion who coxed Australian representative crews at two World Rowing Championships.
Paul Francis Rowe was an Australian representative rower and elite level rowing coach. He was an eight-time Australian national champion in both sweep oared and sculling boats across both lightweight and open divisions. He was Australia's lightweight sculling representative at the 1975 World Rowing Championships. He coached scullers and crews to three Australia national title wins and to world championships and to Commonwealth and Olympic Games.
Hamish Parry is a former Australian representative lightweight rower. He was a nine-time national champion in both sculling and sweep-oared crews and has sculled at underage and senior world championships from 2013 to 2021.
Fiona Ewing is an Australian representative rower. She won three Australian national championship titles in 2019 and a bronze medal at a 2019 World Rowing Cup.
Harriet Hudson is an Australian national representative rower. She is a three-time national senior champion, twice won silver medals at World U23 Championships and is an Olympian. She competed in the Australian women's quad scull at Tokyo 2021 winning a bronze medal.
John Keogh is an Australian elite performance rowing coach and a former national representative rower. As lightweight oarsman he was a dual national champion in 1991 and an Australian representative in the men's lightweight four at the 1991 & 1992 World Championships. He has been a high performance coach for British Rowing, then from 2010 to 2016 he led the women's programme at Rowing Canada. Since 2016 he has been the head women's coach at Rowing Australia.
