Brila FM is a sports radio station founded on October 1, 2002, by Larry Izamoje as Nigeria's first and only sports radio station. [1] Brila FM has four stations, in Lagos, Abuja, Onitsha, and Port Harcourt; it previously also broadcast in Kaduna. [2] During the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the station was appointed as one of the three lead broadcast partners by Optima Sports Management International. [3]

Brila FM focuses primarily on sports updates and analysis. In 2012, they signed a broadcasting partnership with talkSPORT to broadcast live Premier League match commentary until 2014. [4]

WSHY is a commercial radio station in Lafayette, Indiana. It broadcasts a conservative talk radio format. WSHY is owned by William Fielder, III's Coastal Television, through licensee CTI License LLC, as part of a cluster with Fox/NBC affiliate WPBI-LD, ABC affiliate WPBY-LD, and sister radio stations WBPE, WYCM and WAZY-FM. All six stations share studios and offices at 3824 South 18th Street in Lafayette, with WSHY's transmitter also located at the site.

Railways in Nigeria consist of a 3,505 km Cape gauge national railway network and 669 km of standard gauge. The Cape gauge network is in poor condition due to lack of maintenance. In 2019, the single operational standard gauge line from Abuja to Kaduna generated as much revenue as the entire Cape gauge railway network combined. The Nigerian government plans to extend the standard gauge to replace most of the Western Line, while the Eastern Line will be rehabilitated as a Cape gauge line. All trains in Nigeria are operated by the Nigerian Railway Corporation.

On 15 January 1966, rebellious soldiers carrying out a military putsch led by Kaduna Nzeogwu and 4 others, killed 22 people including the prime minister of Nigeria, many senior politicians, senior Army officers and their wives, and sentinels on protective duty. The coup plotters attacked the cities of Kaduna, Ibadan, and Lagos while also blockading the Niger and Benue River within a two-day timespan, before being subdued. The General Officer Commanding the Nigerian Army, Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi, was falsely accused of having been compelled to take control of the government of a country in upheaval, inadvertently putting Nigeria's nascent democracy on hold His ascendancy to power was deemed a conspiracy by the coup plotters, who were partly Igbo and Majors from Yoruba and Hausa sub regions, to pave the way for General Aguiyi-Ironsi to be head of state of Nigeria. Consequently, the retaliatory events by Northern members of the Nigerian Army that led to deaths of many Igbo soldiers and civilians put the nation on a path that eventually led to a civil war.

The Lagos–Kano Standard Gauge Railway is a 1,343 kilometres -long standard gauge railway under construction in Nigeria. Once complete, the railway will connect the Atlantic Ocean port city of Lagos to Kano, near the border with Niger, passing through the national capital of Abuja. The railway replaces the Cape gauge Western Line built by the British in 1896–1927, which has a lower design capacity and is in a deteriorated condition.

Ogechukwukanma Ogwo is a Nigerian broadcaster and radio presenter who currently works as a presenter at Brila FM as a sports analyst after a stint with Raypower FM. she has been a radio presenter for more than 12 years. She started off with a programme called ‘Straight from the Heart’ on RayPower FM radio in April 2002. She then became a presenter anchoring other programmes like the ‘Top 10 Countdown Show’ and ‘Rock Radio’. In August 2003, she auditioned for and got a job with Sports Radio 88.9 Brila FM in Lagos, Nigeria. Ogwo hosted different programmes in Brila FM including ‘Whistles Of The Night’, ‘The Afternoon Blazing Drive’, ‘Top 8 Countdown’, ‘The Sunday Morning Show’ and ‘The Super Morning show’. She has hosted top Nigerian entertainment celebrities in these programmes like Tuface, DBanj, Don Jazzy, Ali baba, Mike Ezuruonye, Rita Dominic, Olamide, Kenny & D1, Omawumi, among others. She moved into sports broadcasting and hosted some sport shows like ‘The Afternoon Show’, ‘The Lunch Hour Sports Cruise’, and ‘Saturday Breakfast Show’. The 2019 Kaduna State gubernatorial election occurred on March 9, 2019. APC candidate Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai defeated main opposition party PDP's candidate, Isah Ashiru, to emerge winner of the contest. APC was said to have won 14 LGAs, PDP nine.
