The Brisbane Premier League (BPL), also known as the Flight Centre Premier League, is the first tier of senior soccer in Brisbane, Queensland (third tier in Queensland and fourth overall in Australia). It is run and administered by Football Brisbane. Twelve teams play a twenty-two match regular season, with the team at the top of the table designated as 'Premiers', and the top four teams qualifying for a finals series.

Contents

There is no promotion and relegation between the BPL and the Queensland Premier League (the second-tier league in Queensland from season 2018 onwards). The bottom two teams in the BPL at the end of the season are relegated to the next tier in Brisbane, Capital League 1 (subject to the potentially promoted teams from Capital League 1 satisfying Football Brisbane's criteria regarding grounds and facilities).

Media

The league and its lower divisions are covered by several local newspapers throughout the city, suburbs and surrounding areas including Ipswich and Toowoomba. Highlights of matches, often at least 2 matches per round, in the league are put together by FB Media (the Media arm of Football Brisbane). Live scores and updates from all Brisbane Premier League matches can be found on The Washing Line Facebook page. The Washing Line website also publishes reports, previews and newspaper articles from around the city. The website built upon the Unofficial site YourBPL.com which began media coverage of the league in 2007. From 2012, the newly founded 'FB Media' has been producing weekly podcasts which can be downloaded from The Washing Line website featuring prominent guests including James Meyer, Miron Bleiberg, Matt Mundy and a wide variety of coaches and players from the Brisbane Premier League. Some games are covered by PaulyTV and FBTV.

Football Brisbane Capital League 1 Football league

Capital League 1 is the second tier of men's senior football (soccer) in Brisbane, Queensland and Level 5 within the Australia. It is administered by Football Brisbane. All clubs participating in Capital League 1 must field two teams, one in first grade, and another in the reserves competition. Clubs in the NPL and Brisbane Premier League cannot field their reserves teams in this division.

Logan Lightning FC Football club

Logan Lightning FC is a semi-professional football (soccer) club based in Shailer Park, a suburb of Logan City, Queensland, Australia. The club's history commenced in 1979, the year of establishment for both the Beenleigh and Loganholme soccer clubs which merged in late 2011 to form the current club. The club currently competes in the National Premier League Queensland. In May 2017, Football Queensland announced Logan Lightning FC were among the 14 clubs accepted to form the Football Queensland Premier League for its initial season in 2018.In November 2020, Logan Lightning FC were crowned Champions and Grand Final winners of the Football Queensland Premier League, guaranteeing promotion for the club to play their 2021 season in the National Premier League Queensland for the first time in club history.

Peninsula Power FC Australian soccer club

Peninsula Power is an Australian football (soccer) club from Redcliffe, Queensland. It was formed in 2000 following a merger of the Redcliffe City and Margate clubs. It competes in the National Premier Leagues Queensland.

Redlands United FC Football club

Redlands United Football Club is an association football club based in Cleveland, Brisbane, Queensland. The club, formed in 1918, is one of the oldest soccer clubs in Queensland. It re-entered the top tier, Brisbane Premier League (BPL), in 2010 after merging with former Queensland State League (QSL) side Redland City Devils. In 2013 Redlands United gained a five-year licence for the new National Premier Leagues (NPL) competition which was renewed in 2018.

The 2013 Football Queensland season was the first season under a new competition format in Queensland, with NPL Queensland replacing the Queensland State League. Below NPL Queensland is a regional structure of ten zones with their own leagues. The strongest of the zones is Football Brisbane with its senior men’s competition consisting of five divisions.

The club was established in 1921, and currently plays in the Football Brisbane Men's Premier League, Women's Capital League and City League competitions. Oxley United FC Football club

Oxley United is an Australian football (soccer) club based in Corinda, Queensland. The club was established in 1913 and is the oldest extant club in continuous existence in the Brisbane region. Oxley United had its golden age in the late 1950s and early 1960s, winning the Brisbane First Division in 1958, and competing in Australia's first national cup competition, the 1962 Australia Cup. Oxley United FC currently competes in the Capital League 2 competition.

Below NPL Queensland is a regional structure of ten zones with their own leagues. The strongest of the zones is Football Brisbane with its senior men’s competition consisting of five divisions.

Grange Thistle is an Australian association football club based in Grange, Queensland. In 2021, the club fielded 11 senior teams and more than 85 junior teams. The senior men's team currently competes in the Football Queensland Premier League 2, and the senior women's team competes in the Brisbane Women's Premier League.

Capital League 3 is the fourth tier of men's senior football (soccer) in Brisbane in Brisbane, Queensland and Level 7 within the Australian soccer league system. It is administered by Football Brisbane. All clubs participating in Capital League 3 must field two teams, one in first grade, and another in the reserves competition. Clubs in the NPL and Brisbane Premier League cannot field their reserves teams in this division.

Capital League 4 is the fifth tier of men's senior football (soccer) in Brisbane, Queensland and Level 8 within the Australian soccer league system. It is administered by Football Brisbane. All clubs participating in Capital League 4 must field two teams, one in first grade, and another in the reserves competition. Clubs in the NPL and Brisbane Premier League cannot field their reserves teams in this division. This division was the lowest in the Football Brisbane structure in 2017, was not required in 2018 following a restructure of Queensland football which resulted in many Football Brisbane clubs joining the newly formed Football Queensland Premier League.

North Brisbane FC Football club

North Brisbane FC is an Australian football (soccer) club from Lutwyche, an inner northern suburb of Brisbane. The club was formed in 1957 as the Polonia Soccer Club. The club was reborn under club president Kerry Harmon, Treasurer Greg Vitulano and secretary Paul Brown in 2015 and it currently competes in Capital League 2, rejoining the Football Brisbane league structure in 2015. In recent years, the club has formed alliances with both Newfarm Punjabi Sports Club and the Queensland University of Technology Football Club."NBFC" as it is affectionately known will undergo a ground refit in late 2019 consisting of a new playing surface, fencing and extra change room for players. The club has a good female contingent. 45% of its registered players are female and they had a team in the Women's Brisbane Premier League for 2019. Men's Capital League 4 was dissolved and the club competed in League 3 in 2017 and was promoted. In 2018 the club expanded its Men's City League teams to 3 and had some lower grade success with the City League 7 team performing well and reaching the grand final under super coach Carlo Borzellega and "man manager" Chris Tully's guidance in 2018 and 2019. The Women's City League 4 side also had success reaching the 2019 grand final.

The 2018 Football Queensland season was the sixth season since NPL Queensland commenced as the top tier of Queensland men's football. This season was also the initial season of the Football Queensland Premier League which occupied the second tier in Queensland men's football in 2018.
