Brit Asia TV Network is a British television channel that is aimed at the British Asian audience. It launched in 2008 [1] and is known for the Brit Asia TV Music Awards. The channel is available on satellite and publishes videos on Dailymotion and YouTube. Between June 2017 and January 2020 the channel was also available on Virgin Media cable. [2] [3] In August 2017 the channel outsourced its playout operations to ABS Broadcasting. [4] [5] In 2017 the channel changed ownership from brothers Jaz and Davy Bal to a consortium with Tony Shergill as CEO. [6]
The new ownership significantly saved the channel's declining ratings by introducing a new vision for the channel and making the channel available to watch in North America (Canada & America), India, Africa and Australia with monthly viewing figures currently averaging 1 million viewers per month. [7]
In 2018 Brit Asia TV established the Punjabi Film Awards to support and acknowledge the contributions made by Punjabi Cinema, the first of its kind to be held outside of India. The event saw some of the biggest names from Punjabi Music and Cinema attend such as Gippy Grewal, Sharry Mann, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Satinder Sartaaj, Tarseem Jassar, Jasmin Sandlas and more. [8]
The JW Mariott Grosvenor House Hotel London played host to the BritAsia TV Punjabi Film Awards (PFA) on Saturday, March 30, 2019.The awards celebrated the very best of Punjabi Films during 2018. There were also awards for special recognition and outstanding achievement on the night.
The event saw the likes of Steel Banglez, Jaz Dhami, Sonam Bajwa, Gippy Grewal, Sidhu Moosewala, Harbhajan Mann, Binnu Dhillon in attendance.
Brit Asia TV Music Awards is an annual event held by the channel which has seen some of the biggest artists perform at some of the biggest venues in the world. In 2018 the awards were held in Wembley Arena which saw Sidhu Moose Wala, Mist (rapper) & Stefflon Don. headline with the track 47 produced by Steel Banglez.
It was reported that both Banglez and Sidhu Moose Wala met at the Punjabi Film awards in 2018 and as a result of being in attendance they confirmed the deal for a collaboration then.
In 2019, Brit AsiaTV has announced an exciting new partnership with the Official Charts Company, in launching the world's first Official Punjabi Chart Show.
Punjabi music consumption has grown exponentially over the last few decades, cementing itself as the dominant South Asian music genre across India. With the roots of modern-day Punjabi music firmly entrenched in the UK, BritAsia TV will be working alongside the Official Charts Company to establish the first Punjabi music chart in the world compiled using official data from all major streaming and download platforms including Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube. On 16 January 2025, Brit Asia TV ceased operations on Sky because Brit Asia Digital launched on Smart TVs and they wanted to focus more on digital services. [10]

Satinder Pal Singh, popularly known as Satinder Sartaaj, is an Indian singer, songwriter, actor and poet primarily associated with Punjabi songs and films. He gained fame with his song "Sai". Since then he has performed across the world. Sartaaj made his film debut as Maharaja Duleep Singh in The Black Prince in 2017.

Baljit Singh Padam, better known by his stage name Dr. Zeus, is a British composer, singer and producer of Punjabi music who has also worked in Indian films. He rose to fame in 2003 with his song "Kangna", which was voted the best song on BBC Asian Network in the same year. His other hits are "Don't Be Shy" and "Jugni Ji". He has worked with singer Kanika Kapoor for the song "Jugni Ji" and with musician Jaz Dhami for the song "Zulfa". His song "Aag Ka Dariya" features on the Four Lions film soundtrack. A music video was also produced featuring model Yana Gupta and singers Ravindra & DJ Shortie.
Pahuldip Singh Sandhu, known by his stage name Steel Banglez, is a British record producer and musician of Indian Punjabi descent. He is currently signed to Warner Bros. Records. Best known for his production work with artists including Mist, MoStack, J Hus and Wiley, Steel Banglez achieved his first chart hit as a lead artist when his track "Bad" reached the top 30 on the UK Singles Chart in February 2018. His highest-charting single on the UK Singles Chart is "Fashion Week" featuring British rappers AJ Tracey and MoStack which peaked at number 7.

The awards show is produced by Brit Asia TV. Award winners are decided by public voting on a website from a list of nominees presented by the event organizers at a nomination party. Website desiblitz called it "UK's largest celebration of South Asian music" and "the biggest awards in the British Asian Music calendar".
Gurinderbir Singh Gill is an Indian-born Canadian rapper-singer associated with Punjabi music. His numorous tracks including "Majhail" and "Brown Munde" charted on UK Asian and Punjabi music charts by Official Charts Company. Gill released his debut EP Not by Chance in December 2020. Gurinder, alongside his label-mates AP Dhillon, Shinda Kahlon and Gminxr, work under their label Run-Up Records.
Moosetape is the second studio album by Indian singer, rapper and songwriter Sidhu Moose Wala, released independently on 15 May 2021. Moose Wala served as the executive producer. Writing was handled by Sidhu dominantly among other artists, while the tracks were produced by The Kidd, Steel Banglez, Snappy, Wazir Patar, and JB. At 32 tracks, it is Moose Wala's longest album, and is also the last to be released before his death on 29 May 2022. It features guest vocals from Bohemia, Tion Wayne, Stefflon Don, Morrisson, Divine, Raja Kumari, Blockboi Twitch and Sikander Kahlon. He produced for variety of artists notably French Montana, Chinx Drugz, Lil Kim, Lil Durk and Jim Jones, along with Punjabi artists including Sidhu Moose Wala, Tarsem Jassar, Sunny Malton, Jazzy B and Prem Dhillon.
