The British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) is a membership organisation in the United Kingdom which represents manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers of goods for, and other businesses connected with, the equestrian market. It is one of the 16 organisations which form part of the British Equestrian Federation. [1]
The association was formed in 1979 and currently has over 800 member companies. [2]
BETA is a company limited by guarantee, with member companies in six categories. From the member companies, the organisation is run by a council of 22, with representation from each category. The headquarters are situated west of Wetherby, off the A661, in Spofforth with Stockeld in North Yorkshire.

BETA conducts regular research on behalf of its members, including on areas such as the number of riders in the United Kingdom [4] [5] and attitudes of riders towards spend in the sector. [6]
The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers is a British trade union covering the transport sector. It is currently presided by Alex Gordon and its current general secretary is Mick Lynch.
The Confederation of British Industry(CBI) is a UK business organization, which in total claims to speak for 190,000 businesses, this is made up of around 1,500 direct members and 188,500 non-members. The non members are represented through the 140 trade associations within the confederation, whose separate and individual memberships the CBI claims to also to speak for. Trade Association member companies, are not directly consulted or involved in CBI's policy formulation. The National Farmers' Union with its 55,000 members is the largest component of the 188,500 non-members the CBI claims to speak for. The Country Land and Business association brings another 30,000 non-members, the Association of Independent Professionals and the Self-Employed 20,000 non-members, the Freight Transport Association 13,000, the Federation of Master Builders 9,500, the Road Haulage Association 8,100 and the National Federation of Builders 1,400.
