The British Schools Foundation aims to promote quality British-style education worldwide. [1] The organisation chartered eleven schools serving expatriate communities in China, Russia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Spain, Uzbekistan and Brazil.
All schools in the group follow the English National Curriculum. [2] All BSF-founded schools except the schools in Spain are now part of Nord Anglia Education. [3]
The first school, British School of Guangzhou was established in 2005. Since then, another ten schools have been opened. The British School of Nanjing was established in 2007 and has one campus serving more than 150 students. The International School of Moscow was established in 2007 and has two campuses serving more than 400 students. The British School, Kuala Lumpur was established in 2009 serving more than 500 students as of 2012. In 2010 the British International School of Marbella, the British School of Navarra, and the British School of Tashkent were opened. In 2011 the group opened the British College of Brazil. The King's School, Manila, was opened in August 2012. In 2014 the British School Yangon was opened. In 2016 the group opened the British School of Brasília. Seven of the foundation's schools were acquired by Nord Anglia Education in 2017. [4]
The British International School of Washington (BISW) is a private, nonsectarian, co-educational British school located in the Georgetown neighborhood near the border of the Georgetown and Glover Park neighborhoods in Washington, D.C. BISW educates pupils between the ages of 2 and 18. BISW was originally founded in September 1998 by Dr. Lesley Stagg. In 2013, BISW joined Nord Anglia Education, an international education provider owned by the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. As of 2019, Nord Anglia operated 66 international schools in 30 countries with over 61,000 students. BISW leases property from Georgetown University, yet GU's Green Building was purchased in 2009 by the entity that is now HUB Properties Trust.

It moved to its current campus in fall 2016, and was previously in northwest Houston.
The British International SchoolHo Chi Minh City (BIS HCMC) is an international school in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, which provides a British style education. The school since 2018 has three campuses: an early years and infant, primary and secondary campus which are all located within Thu Duc. The British International School of Boston relocated in 2004 from Dedham, Massachusetts to its current location Showa Boston campus in the Moss Hill section of Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, a satellite campus for Showa Women's University in Tokyo, Japan.
