Broad Cove is on King's Island, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland, Canada. Coordinates: 47°34′46″N54°12′39″W / 47.57944°N 54.21083°W It was one of five communities on King's Island; the others were: Tack's Beach, Best Harbour, Baker's Cove, Cooper's Cove and Yaulis Cove. All the communities had the same postal address, which was "Tacks Beach, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland".
The main activity of the community was fishing for cod and lobster. Broad Cove was also the site of a herring factory owned by H.C. Brown that packed herring for the West Indies. The community also featured a large fish store with outside fish flakes for the natural curing of salted cod fish. At the herring factory wharf, salt, flour and coal were unloaded for the local market, and salt fish and or herring was picked up for export.
The Broad Cove on King's Island is distinct from the settlement of Broad Cove on Conception Bay, which is part of the town of Small Point-Adam's Cove-Blackhead-Broad Cove.

Garden Cove is a local service district and designated place in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is southeast of Swift Current. The residents of Sound Island moved without government assistance during a period around 1953. They moved to the mainland into Garden Cove and surrounding communities. Today Garden Cove has an active close community. There is a tour boat, Merasheen which is part of the Woody Island Resort hotel which gives people a Newfoundland outport experience. Garden Cove has hiking trails passing by Big Rock Hill and Placentiamans Point. There is an inshore fishery operating there. Some species caught are lobster, cod, mackerel, herring, crab, scallops, mussels, flounder and trout. Late in summer Tuna chase bill fish just off shore.
Bay de Verde is an incorporated town in Conception Bay on the northern tip of the Bay de Verde Peninsula of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The first recorded inhabitants at Bay de Verde arrived in 1662. Bay de Verde became an incorporated town in 1950.
Ladle Cove is a designated place in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is along the Straight Shore on the island of Newfoundland.
Herring Neck is a local service district and designated place in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is on the northeastern extremity of New World Island, Notre Dame Bay. The community encompasses several small contiguous communities such as Merritt's Harbour, Hatchet Harbour, Salt Harbour, and Sunnyside. The name has changed many times in its history; at one time the area now called Herring Neck was called Goshen's Arm and the areas now called Pike's Arm and Green Cove was called Herring Neck.

Cod is the common name for fish of the genus Gadus, belonging to the family Gadidae, and this article is confined to three species that belong to this genus: the Atlantic cod, the Pacific cod and the Greenland cod. Although there is a fourth species of the cod genus Gadus, Alaska pollock, it is commonly not called cod and therefore currently not covered here.
Great Brule is a settlement on the northern tip of Merasheen Island in Placentia Bay in Newfoundland and Labrador. The first permanent residents in the community were recorded in 1813. The cod fishery was the primary source of employment in Great Brule. Between 1951 and 1956 the community was abandoned and most of the residents relocated to larger centers in Placentia Bay.
Patrick's Cove-Angels Cove is a local service district and designated place in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is on the Cape Shore of the Avalon Peninsula. The area was first settled by James Coffey in the early 19th century. Coffey had moved to Newfoundland from County Waterford, Ireland to work at Placentia's Saunders and Sweetman firm. Sweetman's firm had sent some of their employees outward from Placentia to start farms in which to supply Sweetman's with produce. Coffey became the first resident of this community.
