Brooke Overholt (born 2 April 2000) is a Canadian track and field athlete specializing in the 400 metres hurdles. [1] She competed collegiately for Cornell and Vanderbilt University, and represented Canada at the 2023 World Athletics Championships.
Overholt was born and raised in Perth County, Ontario to parents Terry and Jody Overholt. She attended St. Michael Catholic Secondary School in Stratford, graduating in 2018. [2]
Representing St. Mike's and the London Legion, Overholt medaled at numerous OFSAA and Canadian junior championships, in the 100 and 400 m hurdles as well as the open 400 m. [3]
In 2016, she won silver medals in the 100 m hurdles and 400 m, and a bronze in the 400 m hurdles at the Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships. [4]
Her grade 11 and 12 year, she finished runner up in the 400 m hurdles at the OFSAA Championships. She would graduate high school with personal bests of 8.82 in the 60 m hurdles, 13.77 in the 100 hurdles, 1:01.38 in the 400 m hurdles, and 56.13 in the 400 m. [2]
In 2018, Overholt enrolled at Cornell University where she would study Human Ecology and compete for the Cornell Big Red track and field team. [5] [6]
In 2019, her first season competing for Cornell, Brooke finished fourth in the 400 m at the Ivy League Indoor Championships and third at the Ivy League Outdoor Championships in the 400 m hurdles, running a personal best of 58.90. The latter performance earned a selection to represent Canada at the 2019 Pan American U20 Championships in San José, Costa Rica. [7] There she would qualify for the final, placing seventh in 59.43. [8] Later that summer, she would claim the Canadian U20 title in 59.29. [9]
In 2021, with a personal best of 57.48 at the NCAA East Preliminary Round, Overholt qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, in Eugene, Oregon. [10] She would run a time of 58.29 in the heats, not advancing to the final.
At the 2022 Ivy League Indoor Championships, Overholt won her first conference title competing in the 400 m in a time of 54.70. Outdoors, she won the 400 m hurdles at the Ivy League Championships. [11] Later that summer, at the Canadian Track and Field Championships, she won a bronze medal in the 400 m hurdles. [12]
After finishing her undergrad degree at Cornell in 2022, Overholt enrolled at Vanderbilt University as a graduate transfer where she would compete for the Vanderbilt Commodores track and field team. [13]
In 2023, competing for Vanderbilt, Overholt broke the 57-second barrier in the 400 m hurdles for the first time at the SEC Championships in May, finishing fifth. [14] At the NCAA Championships in June, she broke the 56-second barrier, running 55.77 to make the final, followed by a time of 55.50 to finish fourth. [15]
The following month, she finished second at the Canadian Championships, just 0.03 second behind Savannah Sutherland. [16]
In August, she made her global championship debut at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary. She finished seventh in her heat in 56.20, finishing 29th overall. [17]

Perdita Felicien is a Canadian retired hurdler. Felicien is the 2003 World champion in the 100 metres hurdles and 2004 World indoor champion in the 60 metres hurdles. She also won silver medals at the 2007 World Championships, the 2010 World Indoor Championships, and twice at the Pan American Games. Her best time for the 100 metres hurdles of 12.46 secs from 2004 still stands as the Canadian record.
Justyn Warner, is a Canadian track athlete specializing in the 100 metres. He is the former Canadian Junior record holder at that distance with a time of 10.26. He anchored the Canadian 4 × 100 m relay team to a third-place finish at the 2012 Summer Olympics, but they were later disqualified for a teammate stepping out his lane. In 2013 he anchored Canada to a bronze in the same event at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics.
Angela Whyte is a Canadian hurdler in track and field athletic competition. She is a three-time Olympian in the 100m hurdles at the Summer Olympics. She has won multiple medals at both the Pan American Games and the Commonwealth Games in the 100 metres hurdles. She was a four-time All-American and a five-time Big West Conference champion in two years of competition at the University of Idaho and holds school records in the sprints, hurdles, jumps, multi-events and relays at both Idaho and the University of New Mexico. She also holds two Big West records in the 100m hurdles. She is currently an assistant track and field coach at Washington State University.
T'erea Brown is an American track and field athlete, specializing in hurdling events. She was the 2010 American champion in the 400-meter hurdles and the 2011 NCAA Outdoor champion in the event.
Dalilah Muhammad is an American track and field athlete who specializes in the 400 meters hurdles. She is the 2016 Rio Olympics champion and 2020 Tokyo Olympics silver medalist, becoming at the latter the then-second-fastest woman of all time in the event with her personal best of 51.58 seconds. Muhammad was second at both the 2013 and 2017 World Championships to take her first gold in 2019, setting the former world record of 52.16 s. She was the second female 400 m hurdler in history, after Sally Gunnell, to have won the Olympic, World titles and broken the world record. At both the 2019 World Championships and Tokyo Games, she also took gold as part of women's 4 × 400 metres relay team.
Shamier Little is an American track and field sprinter specializing in the 400 metres hurdles. As a 20-year-old college sophomore at Texas A&M University, Little was the 2015 US champion. She then went on to win the silver medal in her signature event at the 2015 and 2023 World Championships. In July 2021, she became the fifth fastest woman of all time at the event.
D'Andre "DeeDee" Hill is an American track and field coach and former athlete. She competed in sprint events, mainly in 100-meter dash. Her personal record in the event was 10.92 seconds. She represented her country over 100 m at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and shared in a gold medal in the 4×100-meter relay at the 1995 World Championships in Athletics, having run in the heats only.
Sydney Michelle McLaughlin-Levrone is an American hurdler and sprinter who competes in the 400 meters hurdles and is the world record holder in that event. She has won gold in the 2020 and 2024 Summer Olympics, as well as the 2022 World Athletics Championships. She set a world record time of 50.37 seconds at the 2024 Summer Olympics on August 8, 2024, breaking her own old world record of 50.65 seconds. She is the first track athlete to break four world records in the same event; setting four world records during 13 months, she was the first woman to break the 52-second and 51-second barriers in the 400 m hurdles. She won the silver medal at the 2019 World Championships. At all four competitions, she also took gold as part of a women's 4 × 400 m relay team.
Anna Cockrell is an American track and field athlete competing in sprinting and hurdling. She is a two-time medalist at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru and won the silver medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in 400 m hurdles event.
Camryn Rogers is a Canadian athlete specializing in the hammer throw. She is the reigning Olympic and World champion in that discipline, in both cases the first Canadian woman to win that title, and only the second Canadian woman to win gold at the World Athletics Championships in any discipline. Sutherland represented Canada at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Carmela Cardama Báez is a Spanish long-distance runner. She won the 2021 NCAA 10,000 m championship competing for the Oregon Ducks. From 2021 to 2024, she was a part of the On Athletics Club.
Oskar Edlund is a Swedish hurdler specializing in the 400 metres hurdles. He was for a moment the gold medalist at the 2021 World U20 Championships, but he was later disqualified due to a protest.
Jasmine Jones is an American track and field athlete. She represented the United States at the 2024 Summer Olympics in the 400 m hurdles, finishing fourth in the final. She was runner-up in the 60 metres hurdles at the 2024 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Christopher Morales Williams is a Canadian sprinter who specializes in the 400 metres. Since 2022, he has competed for the University of Georgia Bulldogs. On February 24, 2024, as a sophomore, he set a unofficial world indoor record in the 400 m of 44.49 at the SEC Championships held in Fayetteville. He then set a new Canadian record in the 400m at the 2024 Outdoor SEC Championships on May 11 with a time of 44.05.
Abdullahi Hassan is a Canadian middle-distance runner who competes in the 800 m. Since 2021, he has competed collegiately for the Wisconsin Badgers. He represented Canada at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
Beatrice Juškevičiūtė is a Lithuanian athlete competing in the combined events. Juškevičiūtė placed 13th in the heptathlon at the 2024 European Athletics Championships. She is 2023 NCAA silver medalist.
