Brussels tram route 23

The Brussels tram route 23 was a Brussels tram route operated by STIB/MIVB in Brussels, Belgium. It ran between Vanderkindere, which was also the terminus for tram route 24 and where passengers could commute with tram routes 3, 4 and 92, and the Heysel/Heizel metro station, which offers transit with the Brussels metro line 6, tram route 51 and bus routes 84 and 88. Since March 14, 2011 the newly formed tram 7 follows the same route as tram 23, but with a much higher frequency. Because of the frequency being brought up to 'metro' level, its line number was altered to the lower regions, for those are the metro and so-called 'Chrono' tramlines. Tram 24 was also taken over completely by the newly formed tram 7.

The tram route formed a half-circle from the south of Brussels to its north via the eastern part of the city. It used to start at the Brussels-South railway station, where Eurostar and Thalys trains from the United Kingdom and France arrive, but the route was later shortened to start at Vanderkindere. Tram route 24 followed the same rails as the 23 between Vanderkindere and Princess Elizabeth stops, where tram route 24 deviated to terminate one stop later at the Schaerbeek railway station. Tram route 25 also followed the same rails as routes 23 and 24 for long, between the Buyl and Meiser stops.

Starting at the Vanderkindere crossroad on the greater ring road in the municipality of Uccle, the tram ran in the middle of this road up to the Bois de la Cambre, that the tram route avoids via Chaussée de Waterloo/Waterloosesteenweg, Avenue Legrand/Legrandlaan and Boulevard de la Cambre/Terkamerenlaan, crossing the municipalities of Ixelles, City of Brussels and Ixelles again. At this point, the tram route followed the greater ring road up to the Gros Tilleul/Dikke Linde, crossing the municipalities of Etterbeek past the Etterbeek railway station, Woluwe-Saint-Pierre at the Montgomery metro station, Woluwe-Saint-Lambert at the Georges Henri premetro station, Schaerbeek up to the Teichman bridge, and the City of Brussels again. Past the Gros Tilleul crossroad, the tram route ran under the Parc de Laeken/Lakenpark up to the Centenaire stop, and then joined the Heysel metro station via another tunnel.

The premetro network consists of three tram lines that partly travel over underground sections that were intended to be eventually converted into metro lines. Maalbeek

The Maelbeek or Maalbeek is a stream that runs through several municipalities in Brussels, including Etterbeek, Ixelles, Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, Schaerbeek. It is a tributary of the Zenne, which it joins up in Schaerbeek, from its source located to the south near the Abbey of La Cambre. The name Maalbeek,, comes from the Dutch words beek and maal. Molenbeek has a similar derivation. It was vaulted in 1872, at which time there were 58 ponds along the stream. Nowadays, only six are left: the ponds of the Abbey of La Cambre; of Ixelles (two); of Leopold Park; of Marie-Louise Square; and of Josaphat Park.

Brussels tram route 81

It has a short section in tunnel at South Station.

Brussels tram route 55

The Brussels tram route 55 is a tram route in Brussels, Belgium operated by the STIB/MIVB. The route connects the Bordet railway station in the municipality of Evere, northeast of Brussels, to the Rogier metro station in the City of Brussels. The route also crosses the municipalities of Saint-Josse and Schaerbeek. The route was cut in the years 2000s with the STIB/MIVB willing to reduce the number of tram routes riding in the north–south tunnel. Prior to this, the route went on up to the southern municipality of Uccle at the Silence stop. A part of this section is now served by Brussels tram route 51.

The tram route 4 in Brussels, Belgium is a tram route operated by the STIB/MIVB, which connects the Stalle car park in the southern municipality of Uccle to the Brussels-North railway station in the municipality of Schaerbeek. It was created on July 2, 2007 as a new route between the Esplanade and the Stalle car park, via the North-South axis tunnel. It is since then with tram route 3 one of the only 2 tram routes to service the North-South axis tunnel. On August 31, 2009 the route was shortened with a new terminus at the Brussels-North railway station, while the tram route 3 was expanded between Brussels-North and Esplanade.

Starting from Herrmann-Debroux, the line crosses the municipalities of Auderghem, Etterbeek, City of Brussels, Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, Koekelberg and Anderlecht. It serves 28 metro stations and has a common section with line 1 between Gare de l'Ouest/Weststation and Mérode station, and with lines 2 and 6 between West station and Beekkant. At Arts-Loi/Kunst-Wet the line also connects with lines 2 and 6. Railway connections are possible at Brussels-Central railway station, Schuman station, Mérode and West station.

Brussels tram route 7

The Brussels premetro- and tramline 7 connects the stop Vanderkindere in Uccle with the stop Heizel/Heysel in Laeken, where connecting services of tram 51, metro 6, bus 84 and bus 88 depart. The colour of the signage for this line is bright yellow.
