The Saskatchewan Roughriders are a professional Canadian football team based in Regina, Saskatchewan. The Roughriders compete in the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a member club of the league's West Division. The Roughriders were founded in 1910 as the Regina Rugby Club. Although Saskatchewan was not the first team to play football in Western Canada, the club has maintained an unbroken organizational continuity since their founding. The Roughriders are the fourth-oldest professional gridiron football team in existence today. The Roughriders are both the oldest professional sports team still in existence that continuously has been based in Western Canada and the oldest in North America to continuously have been based west of St. Louis, Missouri. The team changed their name to the Regina Roughriders in 1924, and to the current moniker in 1946. The Roughriders played their home games at historic Taylor Field from 1936 to 2016; in 2017, the team moved to the newly constructed Mosaic Stadium at Evraz Place.
The Regina Rams represent the University of Regina, located in Regina, Saskatchewan, in the sport of Canadian football in U Sports. The Rams joined U Sports in 1999 and have competed in the Canada West Conference since then. The program has won two U Sports football conference championships, in 2000 and 2024, and the team has made one appearance in the Vanier Cup championship game.
Roy Shivers is a former professional American football running back and Canadian football personnel administrator, most notably as the first black general manager in professional football. He was a general manager for eight seasons with the Birmingham Barracudas and Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He is a four-time Grey Cup champion as a director of player personnel and assistant general manager with the BC Lions and Calgary Stampeders (CFL) and he is a member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. He played for seven years in the National Football League (NFL) with the St. Louis Cardinals.
Andrew Fantuz is a former professional Canadian football wide receiver. Fantuz spent the majority of his professional career with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played for the Riders for six seasons after he was drafted by them in the first round of the 2006 CFL Draft. He then played six seasons for the Tiger-Cats. Fantuz was also signed by the Chicago Bears in 2011. He played CIS football for the Western Ontario Mustangs.
The 2010 CFL Draft took place on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at 12:00 PM ET on TSN. 47 players were chosen from among eligible players from Canadian universities across the country, as well as Canadian players playing in the NCAA. After a number of trades, including ones made on draft day, Toronto and BC wound up with the most picks with nine apiece. The defending Grey Cup champions, the Montreal Alouettes, had seven, while the Calgary Stampeders had six. The Edmonton Eskimos, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Saskatchewan Roughriders each had four. Of the 47 draft selections, 36 players were drafted from Canadian Interuniversity Sport institutions.
Joseph Eppele is a Canadian former professional football offensive lineman. He was drafted second overall by the Toronto Argonauts in the 2010 CFL Draft, being the first offensive lineman taken while being ranked fifth overall by the CFL's Amateur Scouting Bureau. He played college football for the Washington State Cougars.
Renaldo Sagesse is a Canadian football former defensive lineman. He most recently played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League. In the Canadian Football League’s Amateur Scouting Bureau December rankings, he was ranked as the ninth best player for players eligible in the 2011 CFL Draft. On May 8, 2011 Sagesse was selected 25th overall in the draft by the Alouettes and signed a contract with the team on May 26, 2011. He was later released at the end of training camp. On May 31, 2012, Sagesse signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, but was released during training camp on June 17, 2012.
Jade Etienne is a former Canadian football wide receiver. In the Canadian Football League’s Amateur Scouting Bureau December rankings, he was ranked as the 15th best player for players eligible in the 2011 CFL Draft. Etienne was drafted fourth overall in the draft by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and signed a contract with the team on June 1, 2011. He played CIS football with the Saskatchewan Huskies and played high school football at Luther College in Regina. He was traded to the Roughriders for quarterback Drew Willy on February 6, 2014. Etienne was released prior to the start of the 2014 CFL regular season.
Christopher Milo is a former professional Canadian football placekicker. He was drafted 30th overall by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the 2011 CFL Draft and signed with the team on June 1, 2011. He played CIS football for the Laval Rouge et Or. During his college career, Milo won the Vanier Cup twice and he has helped the Roughriders and Ottawa Redblacks both win a Grey Cup in the CFL.
Ben Heenan is a Canadian born former American football guard who played for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL) in 2015. He also played with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of Canadian Football League (CFL). Heenan played college football for the University of Saskatchewan, and was ranked as the second best player in the CFL's Amateur Scouting Bureau final rankings for players eligible in the 2012 CFL Draft, and first by players in Canadian Interuniversity Sport, at the end of the 2011 CIS season.

Anie-Ebiet Michael Edem is a Nigerian-Canadian former professional football defensive back who played in the Canadian Football League (CFL). After the 2012 CIS season, he was ranked as the tenth best player in the Canadian Football League’s Amateur Scouting Bureau final rankings for players eligible in the 2013 CFL Draft and sixth by players in Canadian Interuniversity Sport. Edem was drafted in the first round, third overall by the Montreal Alouettes and signed with the team on May 27, 2013. He played CIS football for the Calgary Dinos and McGill Redmen.

Dylan Ainsworth is a Canadian former professional football defensive lineman who played in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Ainsworth was drafted by the Saskatchewan Roughriders (CFL) in the second round of the 2014 CFL Draft. He played CIS football at the University of Western Ontario, where he held the single season sack record of 9.5 sacks, and attended South Delta Secondary School in Tsawwassen, British Columbia.
Terry Cochrane is a former Canadian football running back who played four seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders in the fifth round of the 1985 CFL Draft. He played CIS football at the University of British Columbia.
Mercer Edward Timmis is a former Canadian football running back in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was drafted in the second round, 14th overall by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the 2016 CFL Draft and played three seasons for the team before finishing his career with the Toronto Argonauts. He played CIS football for the Calgary Dinos. Timmis graduated from the Haskayne School of Business in 2018 and has since returned to the University of Calgary to pursue a Juris Doctor from the University of Calgary Faculty of Law.

Andrew Lue is a retired Canadian football defensive back. In the CFL's Amateur Scouting Bureau final rankings, he was ranked tenth best of the players eligible in the 2014 CFL Draft. He was then drafted tenth overall by the Montreal Alouettes and signed with the team in May 2014. He was then traded to the Saskatchewan Roughriders on October 12, 2016. On February 14, 2017 hew signed a contract with the Edmonton Eskimos. He then signed a contract with the Ottawa Redblacks on February 15, 2018.

Brayden Lenius is a Canadian professional football wide receiver for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football for the New Mexico Lobos and Washington Huskies.
