Ohio is a state in the Midwestern United States. Of the 50 U.S. states, it is the 34th-largest by area. With a population of nearly 11.8 million, Ohio is the seventh-most populous and tenth-most densely populated state. Its capital and largest city is Columbus, with other large population centers including Cleveland, Cincinnati, Dayton, Akron, and Toledo. Ohio is bordered by Lake Erie to the north, Pennsylvania to the east, West Virginia to the southeast, Kentucky to the southwest, Indiana to the west, and Michigan to the northwest. Ohio is nicknamed the "Buckeye State" after its Ohio buckeye trees, and Ohioans are also known as "Buckeyes". Its state flag is the only non-rectangular flag of all U.S. states.
The Ohio State University is a public land-grant research university in Columbus, Ohio. A member of the University System of Ohio, Ohio State was founded in 1870. The university consists of sixteen colleges and offers over 200 degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The main campus has grown into the fifth-largest university campus by enrollment in the United States, with nearly 50,000 undergraduate students and nearly 15,000 graduate students. The university also operates regional campuses in Lima, Mansfield, Marion, Newark, and Wooster.

The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) was formed in 1902 and is the third oldest athletic conference in the United States. Its current commissioner is Sarah Otey. Former commissioners include Mike Cleary, who was the first General Manager of a professional basketball team to hire an African American head coach, and would later run the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). The Ohio Athletic Conference competes in the NCAA's Division III. Through the years, 31 schools have been members of the OAC. The enrollments of the current ten member institutions range from around 1,000 to 4,500. Member teams are located in Ohio.
Thomas Charles Sawyer was an American politician of the Democratic Party. During a career that spanned five decades, he represented his hometown of Akron, Ohio, across multiple levels of government. He was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 1977 to 1983, the Mayor of Akron from 1984 to 1986, a member of the United States House of Representatives from 1987 to 2003, and a member of the Ohio Senate from 2007 to 2016.
The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) is an American labor union, representing non-rural letter carriers employed by the United States Postal Service. It was founded in 1889. The NALC has 2,500 local branches representing letter carriers in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam.
Big Bear Stores was an American regional supermarket chain operating in the U.S. states of Ohio and West Virginia between 1933 and 2004. The company was founded in Columbus, Ohio, and was headquartered there until its acquisition by Syracuse, New York–based Penn Traffic in 1989. Upon Penn Traffic's bankruptcy in 2004, all remaining Big Bear Stores closed. For nearly 75 years, the chain was a Central Ohio institution.

The 1933 Ohio State Buckeyes football team was an American football team that represented Ohio State University in the 1933 Big Ten Conference football season. In their fifth and final year under head coach Sam Willaman, the Buckeyes compiled a 7–1 record, shut out five of eight opponents, and outscored all opponents by a total of 161 to 26. The Buckeyes' sole loss was to the undefeated Michigan Wolverines.
Lake Trust Credit Union is a community-based credit union headquartered in Brighton, Michigan. It is a not-for-profit financial cooperative owned by members of the credit union and regulated under the authority of the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). The organization is governed and supervised by an 18-member board of directors. The earliest predecessor of Lake Trust Credit Union was Detroit Edison Credit Union, which was chartered in 1944. In 2010, Detroit Edison merged with NuUnion Credit Union to establish Lake Trust Credit Union.
The 1891 Ohio State Buckeyes football team represented Ohio State University in the 1891 college football season. They played all their home games at Recreation Park and were coached by Alexander S. Lilley. The Buckeyes finished the season with a 2–3 record.
The Buckeye Athletic Association, also known as the Buckeye Conference, was an athletic league formed out of members of the Ohio Athletic Conference. Its original membership in 1926 included Ohio Wesleyan University, Ohio University (Bobcats), Miami University, the University of Cincinnati (Bearcats), Denison University and Wittenberg University. The Battling Bishops of OWU won the first title in football in 1926. The league was asked to end the membership in both the OAC and the Buckeye in 1928, at which time all the schools voted to instead leave their membership in the OAC behind and be only members of the Buckeye.

Superior Credit Union is a credit union serving Cincinnati, Toledo, and Lima, Ohio, and surrounding regions. It originally served employees of the Superior Coach Company, and after the latter closed in 1981 it expanded by absorbing other credit unions and extending its geographic footprint from Lima to a wide area of western Ohio.
