Buffalo Pass is a mountain pass situated in the Eastern Cape, on the M5, near East London, South Africa. It traverses the entirety of the Umtiza Nature Reserve and the surrounding Controlled Forest Area. [1]

The unique valley of Buffalo Pass is severely environmentally challenged, and a Friends of Buffalo Pass group has been formed to attempt to help protect it.

The Langeberg Range is a mountain range in the Western Cape province of South Africa. Its highest peak is Keeromsberg at 2,075 m that lies 15 km northeast of the town of Worcester. The Umtiza Nature Reserve is one of two forest nature reserves in the greater East London Coast Nature Reserve. It is named after Umtiza listeriana, a rare and protected lugume found within the reserve. The Buffalo River borders the northern part of the reserve, and includes the remaining Umtiza Forest on the southern banks of the river. The Buffalo Pass traverses the entirety of the reserve and the surrounding Controlled Forest Area.

The Fort Pato Nature Reserve is one of two inland forest reserves in the greater East London Coast Nature Reserve, located in the Wild Coast region of the Eastern Cape. The reserve lies on the southern bank of the Buffalo River next to the Bridle Drift Dam Nature Reserve and down to the R346.

The Waters Meeting Nature Reserve is a forest nature reserve near Bathurst in the Eastern Cape. The reserve covers 4,054.89 ha, divided into two sections. The Kowie River borders the western edge of the reserve and separates it in the lower section with the Buffalo Kloof Protected Environment. The lower section contains the Sarel Hayward Dam.
