Bukar Shaib was a Nigerian diplomat, who served as the Nigerian Ambassador to Italy from 1979. He also served as a minister for agriculture in the administration of General Buhari. He was born in Borno State, and studied Veterinary medicine at the collegiate level, becoming the first Nigerian Veterinary Doctor. He was a former federal and regional permanent secretary during the Gowon, then Murtala and Obasanjo regimes. He was appointed as special adviser on National Security to President Shehu Shagari. After Shagari's overthrow he was appointed by the new administration as the minister for Agriculture.

At the time of his death, Prof. Emmanuel Osammor was the Pro Chancellor of Bauchi University, Nigeria, a government advisor, and elder in the Peoples Democratic Party of Nigeria.

Shettima Mustafa was a Nigerian academic and politician. After an early career in medicine, local administration, and media, Mustafa studied agriculture at university, eventually earning a Doctor of Philosophy degree. He became a commissioner in Borno State and joined the Nigerian People's Party, becoming their vice-presidential candidate in 1983. He was jailed after the military coup of December 1983 led by Muhammadu Buhari. After his release in 1985 he taught agriculture at the University of Maiduguri and became head of the Jos region of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture. Mustafa served as Minister of Agriculture from 1990 to 1992, and in 2007 was appointed Minister of Defence in the cabinet of President Umaru Yar'Adua. In 2008 he became Minister of the Interior but left office with the 2010 dissolution of the cabinet.

Barrister Mukhtar Shehu Shagari, CFR was appointed Nigerian Minister of Water Resources in a June 2001 reshuffle of the cabinet of President Olusegun Obasanjo. He was later appointed President of the African Ministers Council On Water (AMCOW). Shagari held office until January 2007 when he left to compete for Deputy Governor of Sokoto State. He was elected Deputy Governor of Sokoto State in April 2007, and after a legal challenge was reelected in May 2008.

Yaba Higher College was founded in 1932 in Yaba, now a suburb of Lagos in Nigeria to provide tertiary education to Africans, mostly in vocational subjects and teaching. The college staff were transferred to start the University of Ibadan in 1948 and the college premises were used for the new Yaba College of Technology.

Hadiza Dawaiya Shagari, also known as Hadiza Shehu Shagari was a Nigerian public figure, former First Lady of Nigeria from 1979 to 1983, and widow of Shehu Shagari. Together with Shehu Shagari's other two wives, Hadiza Shagari served as First Lady of Nigeria when her husband assumed the presidency from 1 October 1979 to 31 December 1983.
