Bulu Chik Baraik is the state legislative assembly member from Mal. He was elected as member of state legislative assembly in 2016 as All India Trinamool Congress Candidate. [1] In 2011, he was elected as member of state legislative assembly as Communist Party of India (Marxist) Candidate. [2]

He was appointed the Minister of State (Independent Charge), Government of West Bengal for the Backward Classes Welfare Department and Tribal Department under the Third Banerjee Ministry. [3]

Early life

He was a worker at Rungamatee Tea Estate in Jalpaiguri district. His father was Firu Chik Baraik. [1]

Career

In 2011, he won election of Mal Assembly as a Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate. In 2016, he won the election as a Trinamool Congress Candidate. He was appointed Minister of State (Independent charge) of Backward Class Welfare and Tribal development. [3]

Previously, it was ruled by Left Front led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) for over three decades.

Legislative Assembly elections were held in 2016 for 294 seats of the Vidhan Sabha in the Indian state of West Bengal. The All India Trinamool Congress under Mamata Banerjee won 211 seats, and thus was re-elected with an enhanced majority. Like in the 2011 election, the poll was held in six phases, with the first phase divided into two days. The first phase was held in Naxalite-Maoist affected red corridor areas with two polling dates: 4 April and 11 April. The other phases were held on 17, 21, 25, 30 April and 5 May. The result of the election was declared on 19 May.

Mamata Roy is an Indian anganwadi worker and former member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. Between 2011 and 2016, she served as the representative of the Dhupguri constituency and as a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
