Central Java is a province of Indonesia, located in the middle of the island of Java. Its administrative capital is Semarang. It is bordered by West Java in the west, the Indian Ocean and the Special Region of Yogyakarta in the south, East Java in the east, and the Java Sea in the north. It has a total area of 34,337.48 km2, with a population of 36,516,035 at the 2020 Census making it the third-most populous province in both Java and Indonesia after West Java and East Java. The official estimate as at mid 2022 was 37,032,410. The province also includes a number of offshore islands, including the island of Nusakambangan in the south, and the Karimun Jawa Islands in the Java Sea.
Banyumas Regency is a regency in the southwestern part of Central Java province in Indonesia. Its capital is the town of Purwokerto, but that town no longer has a central administration and is split over four of the districts within the Regency, with a combined population of 231,765 as at mid 2022. The Regency covers an area of 1,327.59 km2, and had a population of 1,554,527 at the 2010 Census and 1,776,918 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate of population as at mid 2022 was 1,806,814.
Tegal is a city in the northwest part of Central Java of Indonesia. It is situated on the north coast of the province of Central Java, about 175 kilometres (109 mi) from Semarang, the capital of the province. It had a population of 239,599 at the 2010 Census and 273,825 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 290,988. Its built-up area made up of Tegal Municipality and 12 districts spread over Tegal and Brebes Regencies was home to 1,366,858 inhabitants as at the 2010 census. It is administratively separate from Tegal Regency, which borders it to the south and east; Brebes Regency borders it to the west.
Purwokerto is a large but non-autonomous town on the island of Java, Indonesia. It is the coordinating centre of local government and the largest city in western Central Java. Currently, Purwokerto is the capital of Banyumas Regency, Central Java province. The population of the four districts which comprise the town at the 2010 census was 233,951 and 229,271 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as of mid-2021 was 230,235. The City is considered to be the most comfortable city in Indonesia, as it is the favourite place for pensionaries to live after not working.
Garut is a district and town in West Java of Indonesia, and the former capital of Garut Regency. It is located about 75 km to the southeast of the major city of Bandung.
Indramayu Regency is a regency (kabupaten) of West Java province of Indonesia. It covers an area of 2,099.42 km2, and had a population of 1,663,737 at the 2010 census and 1,834,434 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 1,871,832. The town of Indramayu is its capital.
Tegal Regency is one of the regencies in the northwest part of Central Java province of Indonesia, with an area of 878.79 km2 (339.30 sq mi). The administrative center used to be in Tegal City, in the northwest corner of the regency, but then Tegal City was administratively separated from the regency and formed into its own territory. The city was later replaced as the administrative center of Tegal Regency by Slawi Town, which is a suburb about 20 km (12 mi) to the south of the city and within the district boundary. The regency had a population of 1,394,839 at the 2010 Census and 1,596,996 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 1,623,595.
Brebes is a regency in the northwestern part of Central Java province in Indonesia. It covers an area of 1,769.2km2, and it had a population of 1,733,869 at the 2010 Census and 1,978,759 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 2,010,617. Its capital is the town of Brebes in the northeast corner of the regency, immediately adjacent to the neighbouring city of Tegal.

It covers an area of 1,281.115 km2 and had a population of 1,159,926 at the 2010 Census and 1,350,438 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 1,376,825. Its capital is the large town of Kebumen.
