Development

The film was announced on 1 May 2025. [1] It was presented at the Marché du Film later that month. [2] Already in production, Zeller stated that the film The Man Next Door , directed by Bunker executive producers Mariano Cohn and Andrés Duprat, was a source of inspiration when writing Bunker. [3]

Casting

Writer-director Florian Zeller had written the film specifically with Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem, who are married in real life, in mind. [4] They were announced as cast members on 1 May 2025. [1] Stephen Graham was announced as a cast member on 16 May 2025. [5] In December 2025, by the time Bunker was in its second week of filming, Paul Dano was reported to have joined the cast, also featuring Patrick Schwarzenegger. [3]

Filming

Principal photography began in December 2025, in London and Madrid. [6] [7] [3]
