Mastodon is an American heavy metal band from Atlanta, Georgia. Formed in 2000, the band's lineup of Troy Sanders (bass/vocals), Brent Hinds, Bill Kelliher and Brann Dailor (drums/vocals) has remained unchanged since 2001. Mastodon has released eight studio albums, as well as a number of other releases. The band's 2002 debut album, Remission, garnered significant critical acclaim for its unique sound. Mastodon's second full-length release, Leviathan, is a concept album based on the novel Moby-Dick by Herman Melville. Three magazines awarded the record "Album of the Year" in 2004: Revolver, Kerrang! and Terrorizer.
Hopewell is an American rock band. The band was founded by Jason Sebastian Russo, of Hopewell Junction, New York. At 19, Russo joined Mercury Rev, and then struck out on his own with a band named after his hometown.
Wet Confetti is an American art rock band that formed in Portland, Oregon, United States, during November 2000. They are a three piece that consist of Alberta Poon on vocals, Bass VI and keytar; Daniel Grazzini on guitar and keyboards; and Michael McKinnon on drums. The band's name is taken from the French novel To the End of the World by Blaise Cendrars. The band blends rock, punk, pop, noise, rhythmic drumming and melodic breathless vocals together to make their own very distinctive sound. In January 2007 they introduced Richel Martinez as a live touring member. The band recently appeared in the third installment of the Burn to Shine series produced by Fugazi's Brendan Canty and directed by filmmaker Christoph Green. Their most recent album, "Laughing Gasping", was published by Pampelmoose, a label started by Gang of Four bass player Dave Allen.

Cryptograms is the second album from Atlanta, Georgia-based indie rock group Deerhunter, released through Kranky on January 29, 2007 on CD and vinyl. Following the 2005 release of its first full-length album Turn It Up Faggot, Deerhunter began recording material for its next record at Rare Book Room studio in New York. This initial recording session failed, due to the physical and mental state of lead singer Bradford Cox, as well as malfunctioning equipment in the studio. The band returned to Atlanta, only giving recording a second try after encouragement from members of the band Liars. The final version of Cryptograms was recorded in two separate day-long sessions, months apart, resulting in two musically distinct parts—the first includes more ambient music while the second contains more pop music elements. Cox sang most of the record's lyrics in a stream-of-consciousness manner; they include themes of death, companionship, and Cox's experiences with his genetic disorder Marfan syndrome. Cryptograms was generally well received by critics, and several publications placed the album on their lists of the top albums of 2007.

"Whirlyball 7"" is a split EP released in May 2007, featuring songs from four bands from Atlanta, Georgia. The record was released by Chunklet magazine and served as a ticket to a concert featuring Deerhunter, The Selmanaires, Carbonas and The Coathangers. The record was only available at Atlanta's Criminal Records record store. The concert took place on June 1, 2007 at Roswell, Georgia. After the show, due to popular demand, the EP was available to purchase online, but only 100 copies on black vinyl and 100 on clear vinyl were available. There was a brief repress where some number of blue colored vinyl was pressed.

Allen, and was recorded at Chase Park Transduction studios in Athens, Georgia with engineer David Barbe. The final track, "He Would Have Laughed" was recorded separately by Bradford Cox at Notown Sound in Marietta, Georgia and is a tribute to Jay Reatard.

In 2011 they toured with The Black Lips, whose lead singer, Cole Alexander Is featured on a track off their latest album, Second Impulse. They have collaborated with both Bradford Cox and Frankie Broyles past member of Deerhunter on separate occasions and toured with Cox's solo project, Atlas Sound as well as Franz Ferdinand in 2012. In 2013 they signed with Army of Bad Luck Records, the Atlanta-based record company started by former Deerhunter bassist Josh Fauver.

Algiers pulls from a divergent number of musical influences; the most notable of which being post-punk, hip-hop, Southern Gothic literature, and the concept of the Other. Their sound has been described as dystopian soul due to its somber mood, afrofolk inspired vocal approach, and heavy emphasis on atonal textures.
