Byron Gomez (born June 6, 1988) is a Costa Rican celebrity chef based in Denver, Colorado. He competed on season 18 of Bravo's Top Chef: Portland . [1] [2]
Byron was born in Costa Rica, he migrated to the United States when he was 8 years old. Byron is a DACA recipient (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program). [3] His interest in culinary arts started at a young age and after several years cooking on Long Island, he set his sights on New York City. He honed his skills under culinary luminaries like Daniel Boulud, Ronny Emborg, Gavin Kaysen, and Daniel Humm. [4]
While working at Eleven Madison Park, named the World’s Best Restaurant in 2017, Byron traveled with the restaurant’s pop up experiences to the Hamptons and Aspen. [3] After spending the winter in the Rocky Mountains resort town, he decided to plant roots and became the executive chef at 7908 Aspen in 2019. The series was hosted by Katie Lee Joel, in her only season as host, and judged by chef Tom Colicchio and food writer Gail Simmons. In the season finale, Harold Dieterle was declared the winner over runner-up Tiffani Faison.
Top Chef: Miami is the third season of the American reality television series Top Chef. It was first filmed in Miami, Florida, before concluding in Aspen, Colorado. The season was Emmy nominated for Outstanding Reality Competition Series, and garnered the Emmy Award for Best Editing in the category. Season 3 premiered on June 13, 2007 and ended on October 10, 2007. Padma Lakshmi returned with Tom Colicchio, Gail Simmons, and new judge Ted Allen, who switched off with Simmons throughout the season. Top Chef: San Francisco contestant Lee Anne Wong was brought in as a food consultant and assisted in planning the challenges. Izard received a James Beard Foundation Award for "Best Chef: Great Lakes" in 2013 for her work at Girl and the Goat. Kevin Gillespie is an American chef, author and former Top Chef contestant. He is a former co-owner and executive chef at Woodfire Grill in Atlanta. He opened Gunshow, a restaurant in Atlanta, in 2013 and Revival, a restaurant in Decatur, Georgia, in 2015. Gillespie also started Red Beard Restaurants, allowing Gillespie to expand and provide consulting services to other start-ups. Kevin Gillespie's Gamechanger opened in August 2017 on the 200 concourse western end zone of the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. In May 2024, Gillespie opened Nadair in Atlanta, a restaurant showcasing his Scottish heritage.
