Luiters first played on a didgeridoo at age sixteen before learning how to play the bass about a year later, inspired by Stuart Zender's bass playing on Jamiroquai's 1994 album The Return of the Space Cowboy . [1]
Luiters was initially in a neo-soul band called Ray Mann Three. He joined the band in May 2007, replacing the band's original bassist, Matt Hunter. At that time the band comprised Luiters, along with Ray Wassef on lead vocals and guitar and Bart Denaro on drums. The Ray Mann Three released a self-titled debut album in April 2008. Luiters performed extensively with the band, from their first national headline tour in 2008 to performances on the band's national tour support for Al Green in 2010.
In June 2009 Luiters was announced as the bassist for The John Butler Trio, [2] replacing previous bassist Shannon Birchall, although he didn't officially leave The Ray Mann Three until August 2010. [3]
The new line-up of The John Butler Trio, according to Billboard recorded twenty two songs at Butler's home based studio in Fremantle in late 2009 to early 2010, this was eventually cut down to the fifteen that appear on the album, April Uprising . [4] The album was released on 26 March 2010 debuting at No. 1 on the Australian ARIA albums chart on 5 April [5] and the first two singles from the album, "One Way Road" and "Close to You", charting at No. 15 and No. 36 on the Australian ARIA singles charts. On 4 June 2010 John Butler Trio played a show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, [6] which was streamed live to fans around the world at Livestream. [7] This performance was also recorded and released on CD and DVD in July 2011.
In 2013 Luiters appeared on second series of the Australian reality talent show, The Voice , as part of the house band, backing the various contestants. He also performs in a Sydney-based six-piece R&B Soul band, Brown Sugar.
Mountain was an American hard rock band that formed on Long Island, New York, in 1969. Originally comprising vocalist and guitarist Leslie West, bassist and vocalist Felix Pappalardi, keyboardist Steve Knight and drummer N. D. Smart, the band broke up in 1972 and has reunited frequently since 1973. Best known for their cowbell-tinged song "Mississippi Queen", as well as the heavily sampled song "Long Red" and their performance at the Woodstock Festival in 1969, Mountain is one of many bands to be commonly credited as having influenced the development of heavy metal music in the 1970s. The group's musical style primarily consisted of hard rock, blues rock and heavy metal.
The John Butler Trio are an Australian roots/rock band led by guitarist and vocalist John Butler, an APRA and ARIA-award-winning musician. They formed in Fremantle in 1998 with Jason McGann on drums and Gavin Shoesmith on bass. By 2009, the trio consisted of Butler with Byron Luiters on bass and Nicky Bomba on drums and percussion, the latter being replaced by Grant Gerathy in 2013. After both Luiters and Gerathy exited the trio in early 2019, bassist OJ Newcomb and drummer Terepai Richmond joined the band, accompanied by touring musician Elana Stone on keyboards, percussion and backing vocals.

Jarrah Records is an independent Australian record label which releases material by Western Australian-formed bands, John Butler Trio and The Waifs, and their members. In July 2002 the label was founded and co-owned by John Butler; The Waifs' members Josh Cunningham, Donna Simpson, and her sister Vikki Thorn; and the artists' common manager, Philip Stevens. Initially it was established to handle their releases for the territory of the United States by 2003 it expanded. Jarrah Records has won numerous Western Australian Music Industry Awards and was the first artist-owned independent label to debut at No.1 on the ARIA album charts.

They are currently signed to Melbourne record label Illusive Sounds, and are managed and booked by label co-founders Adam Jankie and Matt Gudinski. Bliss n Eso have released six studio albums which include three number 1 debuts on the ARIA Charts. They have also won two ARIA Awards for Best Urban Release for their 2008 album Flying Colours and for Best Music Video for their 2017 single "Moments". Nicholas Caruana aka Nicky Bomba is an Australian musician and singer-songwriter. He is the leader of the ARIA Award-winning Melbourne Ska Orchestra, frontman of his band, Bomba, as well as the former drummer and percussionist of John Butler Trio. He has performed in other acts and as a solo artist. His youngest sister, Danielle Caruana,, is married to his former bandmate, John Butler. His older brother, Michael Caruana, is a member of Bomba and of Mama Kin's backing band.
Live at St. Gallen is a 2005 live CD and DVD by The John Butler Trio recorded in St. Gallen, Switzerland. The CD version peaked at No. 47 on the ARIA Albums Chart. The two CDs included in the set were recorded live at St. Gallen, whereas the DVD was recorded at the Sydney Opera House in 2004. The cover art was designed by John Butler Trio regular Tom Walker. On the Australian edition, the credits for the DVD include "In memory of Paul Hester", the original drummer from Crowded House. By the end of 2005 the album was certified gold by Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA).

Confession are an Australian metalcore band from Melbourne. The band was formed in 2008 by frontman Michael Crafter, who is best known as the former lead vocalist of metalcore bands I Killed the Prom Queen, Carpathian and Bury Your Dead. They have released one EP titled Can't Live, Can't Breathe and three albums: Cancer, The Long Way Home and Life and Death. Vocalist Michael Crafter made a social media post on 7 January 2019 that stated, "MARCH 23 2019 MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA", which is rumoured to be their return date.
Chain are an Australian blues band formed as The Chain in late 1968 with a line-up including guitarist and vocalist Phil Manning and lead vocalist Wendy Saddington. Saddington left in May 1969 and in September 1970 Matt Taylor joined on lead vocals and harmonica. During the 1990s they were referred to as Matt Taylor's Chain. Their single, "Black and Blue", is their only top twenty hit. It was written and recorded by the line-up of Manning, Taylor, Barry Harvey on drums and Barry Sullivan on bass guitar. The related album, Toward the Blues, followed in September and peaked in the top ten. Manfred Mann's Earth Band covered "Black and Blue" on their 1973 album Messin'.

April Uprising is the fifth studio album by Australian roots band the John Butler Trio. The album was recorded from late 2009-early 2010 in Fremantle, Australia. The album's name comes from Butler's appearance on the television documentary series, Who Do You Think You Are, where he journeyed to Bulgaria to find information about his ancestors. The 1876 April Uprising was an important event in Bulgarian history.
Live at Red Rocks is the fourth live album of The John Butler Trio. It was recorded on 4 June 2010 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and was streamed live to fans around the world at Livestream. The album was released in July 2011.
San Cisco is an Australian indie pop band that formed in 2009 under the original name of King George, in Fremantle, Western Australia. The band are a three-piece, and currently consists of Jordi Davieson, Josh Biondillo and Scarlett Stevens. All members, except Stevens, share duties on keyboards. In November 2011, the band was signed by Albert Productions, but moved to Island Records for the release of its debut album. In October 2012, the band described its 'vibe' as "squelchy, crispy, streamlined, hairy, indie". At the ARIA Music Awards of 2013 the group were nominated for Best Independent Release and Best Dance Release for the album; and Best Video for "Fred Astaire", which was directed by Andrew Nowrojee.
Dirty Three is an Australian instrumental rock band, consisting of Warren Ellis, Mick Turner and Jim White (drums), which formed in 1992. Their 1996 album Horse Stories was voted by Rolling Stone as one of the top three albums of the year. Two of their albums have peaked into the top 50 on the ARIA Albums Chart, Ocean Songs (1998) and Toward the Low Sun (2012). During their career they have spent much of their time overseas when not performing together. Turner is based in Melbourne, White lives in New York, and Ellis in Paris. Australian rock music historian Ian McFarlane described them as providing a "rumbling, dynamic sound incorporated open-ended, improvisational, electric rock ... minus the jazz-rock histrionics". In October 2010, Ocean Songs was listed in the book 100 Best Australian Albums.
Flesh & Blood is the sixth studio album by Australian roots band the John Butler Trio. The album, produced by Jan Skubiszewski, was recorded over 20 days at Butler's studio 'The Compound' during December 2012, with extra recording sessions taking place in 2013. The photograph used on the album cover was taken in Butler's backyard shed at his home. The album was released on 7 February 2014 in Australia, with releases in other countries occurring within the same week. An international tour took place across 2014 to help promote the album's release. The album debuted and peaked at number 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart and was certified gold by the Australian Recording Industry Association for shipments exceeding 35,000 copies.
