C.N.Visvanathan (born 28 April 1947) or Chetpet Natarajan Visvanathan was an Indian politician from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
Visvanathan joined the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam at an early age. In 1977, he stood for election from Thirupattur Lok Sabha constituency and was elected to the Lok Sabha or lower house of the Indian Parliament. [1]

J. K. Rithesh was an Indian actor and member of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. He was a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Member of Parliament (MP) in the 15th Lok Sabha from Ramanathpuram constituency. In the Indian general elections of 2009, Rithesh received 294,945 votes to defeat his closest rival, Satiyamoorthy of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party by a margin of 69,215 votes. On 10 April 2014, he joined AIADMK as a primary member. He died on 13 April 2019, due to heart attack.

The opposition party Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, which was part of the National Front, lost heavily, not winning a single seat. During this election, Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated, when campaigning for Margatham Chandrasekar for the Indian National Congress, in the Sriperumbudur constituency.

The result was a landslide victory for Indian National Congress and its ally All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, winning 37 out of 39 seats. The other 2 seats were won by the opposition, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. This marks the start of the dominance of INC-AIADMK, for the next decade winning 38 seats in 1989 election and all 39 seats in 1991 election. The allocation of seats were done what was later dubbed, "The M.G.R formula". Where the regional party would contest 70% of the assembly seats and the national party would be given 70% of the Lok Sabha seats.
