A shopping mall is a North American term for a large indoor shopping center, usually anchored by department stores. The term "mall" originally meant a pedestrian promenade with shops along it, but in the late 1960s, it began to be used as a generic term for the large enclosed shopping centers that were becoming commonplace at the time. In the U.K., such complexes are considered shopping centres, though "shopping center" covers many more sizes and types of centers than the North American "mall". Other countries may follow U.S. usage while still others follow U.K. usage. In Canadian English, and often in Australia and New Zealand, the term 'mall' may be used informally but 'shopping centre' or merely 'centre' will feature in the name of the complex. The term 'mall' is less-commonly a part of the name of the complex.

The complex, which includes a hotel and office tower, is owned by the company Central Pattana. In 2006, after three years of design and renovation, CentralWorld was expanded to 550,000 m2 (5,900,000 sq ft) of shopping mall and 830,000 m2 (8,900,000 sq ft) of complex, topping nearby rival Siam Paragon in terms of size.

Spectrum Mall is a shopping mall located in Perambur, Chennai, India. It is the first mall in North Chennai. The mall was developed at the site of erstwhile Venus theater on Paper Mills Road in Perambur. The mall is spread over an area of 160,000 square feet with two levels of retail shopping and a five screen multiplex. It has two levels of basement parking with capacity of 200 cars and 800 two wheelers. The mall is developed and promoted by Ganga Foundations. The mall has Big Bazaar as its anchor store The mall was soft launched in September 2011 as Grand Venus Mall. It was rebranded as Spectrum mall and was officially launched in September 2012 along with its multiplex S2 Cinemas.
SM CDO Downtown is a shopping mall located along Claro M. Recto Avenue corner Osmeña Street, Cagayan de Oro, in the city's central business district. The mall is the 2nd in Northern Mindanao and 61st mall in the Philippines by the SM Group. It was the 3rd SM Supermall to be called "Premier" after SM Lanang Premier and SM Aura Premier respectively. It has a leasable area of 81,133 m2 and a gross floor area of 177,743 m2, making it the largest SM Supermall in Mindanao.

It is the second mall in the Vertis North township complex built by Ayala Malls inside Triangle Park; the first being TriNoma that was opened in 2007.
