Caitlin Cherry (born 1987) [1] is an African-American painter, sculptor, and educator.
Caitlin Cherry was born in 1987 in Chicago, Illinois. [1] Cherry received her MFA degree from Columbia University in 2012; and her BFA degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2010. [2] She also participated in the Yale University Summer School of Art in Norfolk, Connecticut in 2009.
As of 2020, Cherry serves as assistant professor of Painting + Printmaking at Virginia Commonwealth University. [3] In 2021, Cherry formed a virtual, alternative arts education program entitled Dark Study, along with artist Nicole Maloof. The program seeks to offset the hierarchical structure in universities while addressing racial and economic inequities. [4]
Cherry's work explores different topics, including the representation and visibility of black women as they relate to institutional power structures and security. [5] She uses mixed techniques to do her work, combining sculpture, installation, and painting. [6]
Cherry has presented in various group and solo exhibitions. [7] Her 2019 exhibition, Thread Ripper at Luis De Jesus gallery in Los Angeles received positive reviews in Art in America and Artillery Magazine. [8] [9] Other notable exhibitions include, Monster Energy at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 2017, [10] and Hero Safe at the Brooklyn Museum in 2013, which consisted of three painting-installations for the Raw/Cooked project. [11] [12] Raw/Cooked was a series of projects by Brooklyn artists who have been invited by the Museum to show their first major museum exhibitions. [11] She was the ninth solo artist in the series. [11] She was inspired to build large-scale wooden weapons, based on drawings of Leonardo da Vinci, that act as supports for her paintings, such as Dual Capable Catapult Artcraft "Your Last Supper, Sucker," 2013. Her work has also been the subject of solo exhibitions at Providence College Galleries, Providence, RI (2018); Anderson Gallery at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA (2018); University Museum of Contemporary Art at University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA (2017); and at The Brooklyn Museum as part of the Raw/Cooked series curated by Eugenie Tsai (2013).

She was included in the 2019 traveling exhibition Young, Gifted, and Black: The Lumpkin-Boccuzzi Family Collection of Contemporary Art. [15]
In July and August 2020, Los Angeles' Luis De Jesus gallery presented Corps Sonore, an online/virtual exhibition of Cherry's paintings and digital collages. [16]

She is a co-founder of the Black Lunch Table Project, which includes a Wikipedia initiative focused on addressing diversity representation in the arts on Wikipedia.
Peter Grippe was an American sculptor, printmaker, and painter. As a sculptor, he worked in bronze, terracotta, wire, plaster, and found objects. His "Monument to Hiroshima" series (1963) used found objects cast in bronze sculptures to evoke the chaotic humanity of the Japanese city after its incineration by atomic bomb. Other Grippe Surrealist sculptural works address less warlike themes, including that of city life. However, his expertise extended beyond sculpture to ink drawings, watercolor painting, and printmaking (intaglio). He joined and later directed Atelier 17, the intaglio studio founded in London and moved to New York at the beginning of World War II by its founder, Stanley William Hayter. Today, Grippe's 21 Etchings and Poems, a part of the permanent collection at the Davis Museum and Cultural Center at Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, is available as part of the museum's virtual collection.
Analia Saban is a contemporary conceptual artist who was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but is currently living in Los Angeles, California, United States. Her work takes traditional artistic media such as drawing, painting and sculpture and pushes their limits as a scientific experimentation with art making. Because of her pushing the limits with different forms of art, Saban has taken the line that separated the different art forms and merged them together.
Kenyatta A.C. Hinkle is also known as Olomidara Yaya. She is an American artist, author, and Assistant Professor at the University of California at Berkeley Department of Art Practice. Her work focuses on questions of race, sexuality, and history through a variety of visual and textual mediums. She lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Notable works include the Kentifrica project, the Tituba series, The Evanesced, and the Uninvited series. She is a member of CTRL+SHFT Collective in Oakland, California.
Jacolby Satterwhite is an American contemporary artist who creates immersive installations. He has exhibited work at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris, the New Museum and the Museum of Modern Art, both in New York City, and the Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia. In addition to MoMA, his work is in the public collections of the Studio Museum in Harlem, the Seattle Art Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Kiasma, and the San Jose Museum of Art. Satterwhite has also served as a contributing director for the music video that accompanied Solange's 2019 visual album When I Get Home and directed a short film accompaniment to Perfume Genius's 2022 studio album Ugly Season.

Tomashi Jackson is an American multimedia artist working across painting, video, textiles and sculpture. Jackson was born in Houston, Texas, raised in Los Angeles, and currently lives and works in New York, NY and Cambridge, MA. Jackson was named a 2019 Whitney Biennial participating artist. Jackson also serves on the faculty for sculpture at Rhode Island School of Design. Her work is included in the collection of MOCA Los Angeles. In 2004, a 20-foot-high by 80-foot-long mural by Jackson entitled Evolution of a Community was unveiled in the Los Angeles neighborhood of West Adams.

He graduated high school from Duke Ellington School of the Arts in 2008, while also attending night classes at Washington Studio School. He later graduated from the School of Art and Design at Montgomery Community College, Silver Spring (2010), Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia, and the New York Academy of Art, New York. Niles was also an artist in residence at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2018.

Evita Tezeno is an American artist currently based in Dallas, Texas. She works in collage art, employing patterned hand-painted papers and found objects. Tezeno's work is influenced by modernists including Romare Bearden, and is characterized by depictions of scenes from her life, family, and childhood memories in South Texas. Her work aims to present a cohesive portrayal of Black America, drawing inspiration from artists such as Elizabeth Catlett and William H. Johnson. In 2012, she was awarded the Elizabeth Catlett Printmaking Award.
