Caitlin Elisabeth Rose (born June 23, 1987) is an American country singer and songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee. [1] [2] She has released three albums, Own Side Now (2010), The Stand-In (2013) and Cazimi (2022). She also recorded two Arctic Monkeys songs for Record Store Day in 2012. [3]

Career

Rose was previously the lead singer of Nashville indie band Save Macaulay, [4] on local label Theory 8 until 2007. [5] As a solo artist, she signed to BMI in 2008. [6] The title track of her seven-track 2008 EP, Dead Flowers , is a cover of a Rolling Stones song.

Her first album, Own Side Now , was released by Names Records in August 2010. [2] Her vocal performance and lyrics have led to comparisons to Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, [1] and Iris DeMent. [7] Claire Suddath of Time magazine named Own Side Now one of the Top 10 Albums of 2011, ranking it at No. 7. [8]

Her next studio album, The Stand-In , was released on February 25, 2013.

After a nine-year gap, she released the album Cazimi on November 18, 2022.

Also in 2022, Caitlin Rose appeared on local East Nashville indie label 3Sirens' debut compilation. The label is founded by The Grahams. [9] "3Sirens Presents: With Love Part 1" is a collection of 80s and 90s cover songs, including Rose's take on Blondie's classic "One Way Or Another". Also featured on the release were local East Nashville favorites Derek Hoke, The Grahams, Dylan LeBlanc and Andrew Combs. [10]

Personal life

Rose's mother is country songwriter Liz Rose (who shares a Grammy nomination for writing with Taylor Swift). [1] [2] She was born in Dallas, Texas, and her family moved to Nashville in 1994. She attended community college in Nashville for a year before leaving to focus on music. [2] Rose is a big fan of astrology, and her 2022 album, Cazimi, is an astrological term for when the sun and another planet are perfectly conjoined. [11]

Caitlin & Will were an American country music duo, consisting of members Caitlin Lynn and Will Snyder, that rose to fame when they won season one of CMT's Can You Duet. After winning, they signed with Columbia Nashville. They initially intended to release a song titled "Even Now" as their debut single, but the label decided to release "Address in the Stars" instead. The song was released to radio on March 30, 2009 and peaked at No. 42. Their debut album went unreleased, and the duo disbanded in October 2009.

Margaret Rose Durante is an American soul and country music singer. In 2009, Durante signed to Universal Republic and released a cover of Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody". A year later, she left Universal Republic and signed to independent Emrose Records, an imprint that used the services of James Stroud's Stroudavarious Records. She charted two singles for Emrose and released her digital EP, Maybe Tonight. Maggie also recorded two songs that were featured in episodes of the Disney Channel's Shake It Up and Good Luck Charlie television series, and were included on the Shake It Up: Break It Down soundtrack album that was released on July 12, 2011. He released his eponymous debut studio album later that year in December. The album spawned the single "What Ifs", and in October 2017, Brown became the first artist to have simultaneous number ones on all five main Billboard country charts. Brown released his second album, Experiment, in November 2018, which became his first number one album on the Billboard 200.

The Grahams are an alternative pop group made up of lifelong musical and romantic partners, Alyssa and Doug Graham. Playing together on a variety of stages, the duo joined together to release their debut album, Riverman's Daughter, in the fall of 2013. They traveled The Great River Road, writing new songs for the album, which was later produced by Grammy-winner Malcolm Burn. The Grahams announced their third studio album 'Kids Like Us', which was the final album to be produced with Richard Swift, and it was released 27 March 2020. The duo returned in 2021 with a 3-track EP 'Sha La La', produced by Dan Molad at their 3Sirens studio in East Nashville.
