Asturias, officially the Principality of Asturias, is an autonomous community in northwest Spain.
The Picos de Europa are a mountain range extending for about 20 km (12 mi), forming part of the Cantabrian Mountains in northern Spain. The range is situated in the Autonomous Communities of Asturias, Cantabria and Castile and León. The highest peak is Torre de Cerredo, at an elevation of 2650 m (8,690 ft).

Yernes y Tameza is a municipality in the Autonomous Community of the Principality of Asturias, Spain. It is situated in the east-central zone of the principality, between mountains high along the Cubia River. It is bordered on the west, north, and northeast by Grado, on the southeast by Proaza, and on the south by Teverga. The municipality has an abrupt topography, most notable in the peak Caldoveiru (1,357 m) and the Tameza River, which crosses the municipality from south to north.

Somiedo Natural Park is a protected area located in the central area of the Cantabrian Mountains in the Principality of Asturias in northern Spain. As well as being designated a natural park, it is protected as a Special Area of Conservation, and as one of a number of Biosphere Reserves in the Cantabrian mountains.(see note)

The constituency currently elects six deputies. The electoral system uses the D'Hondt method and a closed-list proportional representation, with a minimum threshold of 3%.

The first government of Adrián Barbón was formed on 25 July 2019, following the latter's election as President of the Principality of Asturias by the General Junta of the Principality of Asturias on 15 July and his swearing-in on 17 July, as a result of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) emerging as the largest parliamentary force at the 2019 regional election. It succeeded the second Fernández government and was the incumbent Government of the Principality of Asturias between 25 July 2019 and 31 July 2023, a total of 1,467 days, or 4 years and 6 days.
The Medal of the Principality of Asturias is a Spanish civil decoration, the highest distinction awarded by the autonomous community of Asturias. Its purpose is to reward merits considered truly unique, carried out by both individuals and entities recognized for having provided services or activities of various nature for the benefit of the general interests of the Principality of Asturias. It is described in Law 4/1986, of 15 May, regulating honors and distinctions, published in the Boletín Oficial del Principado de Asturias number 125 on 30 May 1986. This rule replaced the regulations for the granting of honors and distinctions of the former Provincial Council of Asturias, of 29 October 1970. The medal has two different categories: gold and silver.
