Calvin W. Goings (born April 3,1973) is the Assistant City Manager for the City of Port Angeles. He was the Director of Finance and Administrative Services for the City of Seattle,and a former politician. [1] He was the youngest member to ever serve in the Washington State Legislature representing Puyallup at 22 years old.
Goings also served for over seven years as a member of President Obama's economic development team leading the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) in the Pacific Northwest,where he focused on expanding SBA support to small businesses owned by women,immigrants and minorities.
Calvin Goings grew up in Puyallup,Washington,as the youngest of four children and attended Franklin Pierce High School.
He earned his undergraduate degree from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma,Washington.[ citation needed ] [2]
At 18,Goings ran for Fire Commissioner of Central Pierce Fire and Rescue and became one of the state's youngest elected officials. [3] [4] In 1995,at age 22,he was appointed to the Washington State Senate and was the youngest State Senator in the nation at that time. [5] The following year Goings was elected outright to continue in that office. [6] Goings Represented the 25th Legislative District. He was named to fill the vacancy left when Senate Majority Leader Marc Gaspard resigned. He served as Vice Chair of the Senate Transportation Committee. [7]
In 2000,Goings was elected to the Pierce County Council. [8] He was also a gubernatorial appointee to the State Transportation Improvement Board (TIB). During his time on the Pierce County Council he was the prime sponsor of the first domestic partner benefits equity legislation for Pierce County employees. [9]
In 2008,Goings ran for Pierce County Executive but lost to Pat McCarthy. [10]
In 2010,Goings was appointed by President Obama to serve as Regional Administrator of Region X (Pacific NW Region) of the U.S. Small Business Administration.[ citation needed ] He served for seven years in this role as a member of Obama's economic development team.
Goings served as the Director of Finance and Administrative Services for the City of Seattle. [11] In this role,Goings served as a member of Mayor Bruce Harrell’s Cabinet.
He also served as the CEO of the largest civilian led mass vaccination site in the United States. Under his leadership,the site provided over 102,000 life-saving vaccinations.
Previously,Goings was the Chief of Staff for Seattle City Light.
In the private sector,Goings led the statewide Washington Credit Union Foundation.
Outside of work,Goings served as a past member of the Board of Directors for the Greater Seattle Business Association,the nation's largest LGBTQ chamber of commerce.
Goings lives on the Olympic Peninsula.

State Route 167 (SR 167) is a state highway in the Seattle metropolitan area of Washington state. It is commonly known as the Valley Freeway and serves the Green River Valley from Tacoma to Renton,primarily as a four-lane freeway. The 28-mile (45 km) highway begins in Tacoma at an interchange with Interstate 5 (I-5) and travels southeast to Puyallup as an undivided road. It then turns northeast onto a freeway and passes through interchanges with SR 512 in Puyallup and SR 410 in Sumner,continuing north through Auburn and Kent. After an interchange with I-405 in Renton,it terminates at an intersection with SR 900.
Timothy Markham Sheldon is an American farmer,businessman,and politician who served as a member of the Washington State Senate,representing the 35th District between 1997 and 2023. The district includes all of Mason County and parts of Thurston and Kitsap counties. A member of the Democratic Party,Sheldon caucused with the Republican-dominated Majority Coalition Caucus and afterwards the Republican Caucus from 2012. He previously represented Mason County as a Mason County Commissioner for District 2 from 2005 to 2017 and served as a member of the Washington House of Representatives from 1991 to 1997.
Peter G. von Reichbauer is an American businessman and politician serving as a member of the nonpartisan King County Council,representing District 7,a 124-square-mile (320 km2) region of South King County which includes all of the cities of Algona and Federal Way,the entire King County portions of Auburn,Milton,and Pacific and large unincorporated areas. Prior to his election to the council,von Reichbauer served as a Washington State Senator for the 30th Legislative District between 1973 and 1994.

The Edmore was the first ship to call at the port in 1921. The port's marine cargo operations,among the largest in the United States,was merged with the Port of Seattle's in 2015 to form the Northwest Seaport Alliance.

The Mount Rainier Volcano Lahar Warning System consists of two separate components,operating in tandem:Acoustic Flow Monitors (AFM) and the All Hazard Alert Broadcast (AHAB) sirens. The AFM system was developed by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) in 1998 and is now maintained by Pierce County Emergency Management. The purpose of the warning system is to assist in the evacuation of residents in the river valleys around Mount Rainier,a volcano in Washington,in the event of a lahar. Pierce County works in partnership with the USGS,the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network (PNSN),Washington Military Department's Emergency Management Division,and South Sound 9-1-1 to monitor and operate the system.
Pierce Transit,officially the Pierce County Public Transportation Benefit Area Corporation,is an operator of public transit in Pierce County,Washington. It operates a variety of services,including fixed-route buses,dial-a-ride transportation,vanpool and ride-matching for carpools. The agency's service area covers the urbanized portions of Pierce County,part of the Seattle metropolitan area,and includes the city of Tacoma. In 2022,the system had a ridership of 5,562,500,or about 23,500 per weekday as of the third quarter of 2023.
Washington's 10th congressional district is a congressional district in western Washington. The district is centered on the state capital,Olympia,and includes portions of Thurston and Pierce counties. It was created after the 2010 United States census,which granted Washington an additional congressional seat,bringing the number of seats apportioned to the state up from 9 to 10,and elected Denny Heck as its first member to the United States House of Representatives in the 2012 elections. Marilyn Strickland was elected in 2020 to replace him after he retired to run for Lieutenant Governor.

Sam Cho is an American politician and entrepreneur based in Seattle,Washington serving as a commissioner of the Port of Seattle. Prior to serving as a commissioner,he was Founder and CEO of Seven Seas Export,a political appointee in the Obama Administration,and a staffer for a member of the Washington State Senate and United States Congress. Cho was elected to the Seattle Port Commission in 2019,becoming the only minority port commissioner at that time. He took his oath of office in two languages,English and Korean as a tribute to his family's immigrant roots.
