Cameron Alborzian (born 26 February 1967), also known as Yogi Cameron, is an American wellness writer and former model. Widely recognized as one of the first male supermodels in the fashion industry, he transitioned from the catwalk to holistic healing, becoming a practitoner of Ayurvedic medicine, yoga, and ancient wellness systems. Alborzian first rose to prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s as a trailblazing male supermodel. He worked with some of the world’s most iconic fashion houses, including Guess, [2] Levi's, Versace, Christian Dior, Valentino, Chanel, Gucci, [3] Jean Paul Gaultier, [4] Dolce & Gabbana, [5] Karl Lagerfeld, Montana, John Galliano or Yves Saint Laurent.

He is perhaps best known for his appearance in Madonna's 1989 music video "Express Yourself." He also appeared in "Something About the Way You Look Tonight" by Elton John (the latter with the British model Kate Moss). At the end of the 1990s, he left modeling to pursue the spiritual path and became known as Yogi Cameron.

Yogi Cameron went on to author four books on the topics of yoga, Ayurveda, and holistic wellness, including The Yogi Code, The Guru In You, The One Plan, and Transform Your Health.

Early life

Alborzian was born in Tehran, Iran to an English mother and Iranian father. [6] [7] He grew up in the United Kingdom.

His modeling career began after a scout on the street spotted him on the streets of London. Several weeks later, he appeared in a Jean Paul Gaultier show in Paris to start off his career. [8]

Alborzian rose to prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s as a trailblazing male supermodel. He worked with some of the world’s most iconic fashion houses, including Jean-Paul Gaultier, Chanel, and Versace, and appeared in high-profile campaigns and runway shows. His striking looks and charismatic presence earned him the title of one of the first male "supermodels."

He is perhaps best known for his appearance in Madonna’s 1989 music video for Express Yourself, which cemented his place as a cultural icon during the era.

Along with Gaultier, he worked for other designers such as Dior and YSL. He did not achieve wider fame for his work until he landed a contract with Guess jeans in 1988. [9]

This work earned him a great deal of attention, including that of Madonna, Alborzian played her love interest in the music video for her song Express Yourself . [10] [11] He appeared in the 1997 music video for Elton John's "Something About the Way You Look Tonight", also starring Kate Moss. [12] In 1998, he ended his career in fashion after he joined fellow models Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, and Kate Moss in visiting Nelson Mandela in South Africa for a charity event to benefit the Mandela Fund. Ayurveda and Yoga Practitioner (National Ayurvedic Medical Association board certified)

After the death of his close friend and mentor in naturopathy, [13] Alborzian attended the Integral Yoga and Yogaville teacher training in New York. [14] as well as a reflexology masters course at the Open Center in New York City. He continued his studies at Arsha Yoga Vidya Peetam Trust in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India in 2003. At Arsha, he studies Ayurveda and yoga under Sri V. Vasudevan, who studied in the lineage of Brahmasri Poomulli Neelakantan Namboothiripad, Brahmasri Cherukalakapurath Krishnan Namboothiri, and Yogi Narayanji Maharaj. [15]

Yogi Cameron is the author of four books: Ahora es el Momento, The Guru in You, [16] The One Plan, and The Yogi Code.

It supported her fourth studio album Like a Prayer (1989), and the soundtrack album to the 1990 film Dick Tracy, I'm Breathless. The 57-show tour began on April 13, 1990, at the Chiba Marine Stadium in Chiba, Japan, and concluded on August 5 at the Stade Charles-Ehrmann in Nice, France. Additionally, it marked Madonna's first concerts in Sweden and Spain. Originally planned as the Like a Prayer World Tour, it was supposed to be sponsored by soft drink manufacturer Pepsi. However, the company cancelled the contract following the controversy surrounding the music video of "Like a Prayer".
