Cameron Britton (born 1986or1987) [1] is an American actor known for his role as Ed Kemper in the Netflix crime drama television series Mindhunter, for which he received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series [2] and Hazel in the Netflix television series The Umbrella Academy .

Early life

Britton grew up in Sonoma County, California, graduating from Analy High School in Sebastopol in 2004. [1] He worked as a preschool teacher for eight years, where he taught special needs children ranging from 18 months to 3 years old. [3]

Career

Britton had his breakout role as Ed Kemper in the 2017 Netflix crime drama Mindhunter . He played hacker Plague in the 2018 crime thriller film The Girl in the Spider's Web. [4] In the Netflix TV show The Umbrella Academy, he played the role of Hazel, a time-travelling assassin. [5]

He stars as the falsely suspected 1996 Olympic Games bomber Richard Jewell in the second season of the Manhunt drama anthology series. [6]

In September 2024, he was cast in a recurring role on the upcoming superhero series Spider-Noir . [7]

Mindhunter is an American psychological crime thriller television series created by Joe Penhall, based on the 1995 true-crime book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker. The series debuted in 2017 and ran for two seasons. Executive producers included Penhall, Charlize Theron, and David Fincher, the latter of whom served as the series' most frequent director and de facto showrunner, overseeing many of the scriptwriting and production processes. The series stars Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, and Anna Torv, and follows the founding of the Behavioral Science Unit in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the late 1970s and the beginning of criminal profiling.
