Camilo Prieto Valderrama is a Colombian physician, climate science professor, and researcher. He is the founder of the NGO Movimiento Ambientalista Colombiano. [1] He has received several awards for his work. He is WINS (World Institute for Nuclear Security) Ambassador.
Prieto received a Bachelor of Medicine from the Javeriana University, a master's degree in Philosophy at the Javeriana University (2014), and a postgraduate degree in Human Rights at the Open University of Catalonia. [1]
In 2013, he founded the Movimiento Ambientalista Colombiano, joining his two facets of doctor and activist. [2]
He has led several campaigns for environmental assistance and awareness across Colombia, including in San Andrés, Chocó, La Guajira, and Putumayo. [1]
Prieto has participated in various political forums and negotiations advocating for pro-environment policies: Insertion of Colombia in the Escazú Agreement for Latin America; [3] Energy Transition Table; and proposals to President Iván Duque after the social unrest of autumn 2019. In this case, Prieto denounced the lack of preventive policies on air and water pollution and the need to sign the Escazú Agreement. [4] He is climate science professor at Pontifical Xavierian University [5] and researcher at Colombian Geological Survey.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Prieto broadcast several educational videos on the best ways to deal with the virus. [6]
As a science communicator, he is the author of essays and articles, the blog and the internet video channel "El Planetario". He collaborated with the TV program Muy Buenos Días for 11 years, has worked with the RCN Channel directed by Jota Mario Valencia, [7] and is currently the host of Vida conciencia and of "Conversaciones en Casa" on Canal Capital. In his book "El perro a cuadros" (2013) he recounts his memories of childhood and youth when he began to be aware of the ecological crisis, and proposes environmental methodology through responsible consumption. [1]
He wrote the essays "La economía de los nobles propósitos y el continente de la esperanza" and "La tonalidad de la muerte" after studying German idealism and Heidegger. [9] In the first of the books cited, he proposes a way to migrate towards a new economy. [10] In 2021 he wrote "Nutrición Sostenible". [11]

The Bojayá massacre was a massacre that occurred on May 2, 2002, in the town of Bellavista, Bojayá Municipality, Chocó Department, Colombia. Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) guerrillas attacked the town in an attempt to take control of the Atrato River region from United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC) paramilitaries. During the fighting, a gas cylinder bomb launched at the AUC paramilitaries positioned by the walls of a church from a FARC mortar went through the roof of the church instead, landing on the altar inside and detonating. 119 civilians died in the attack; approximately 300 inhabitants of the town had taken refuge in the church, and 79 died in the explosion.

La tragedia del silencio is a Colombian silent melodrama film directed by Arturo Acevedo Vallarino and first screened on 18 July 1924 at the Faenza theatre in Bogotá. It was the first Colombian film during the silent film era with a film score, which was performed during the projection and was written by Alberto Urdaneta Forero.

Gabriel Giraldo Zuluaga S.J. was a jesuit, philosopher, historian, professor, lawyer and dean of the Faculty of Law of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, and dean of the University Environment and General Secretary. Giraldo became a national figure of Colombia during the 20th century from the deanship of the Faculty of Law of the Javeriana University, died on 1 March 1993, in Bogotá, Cundinamarca, Colombia, at the age of 86.
