Athletic Club, commonly known abroad as Athletic Bilbao, or simply as Athletic domestically, is a professional football club based in the city of Bilbao in the Basque Country, Spain. They are known as Los Leones because their stadium was built near a church called San Mamés, which was named after Saint Mammes, an early Christian thrown to the lions by the Romans. Mammes pacified the lions and was later made a saint. The team plays its home matches at the San Mamés Stadium. Its home colours are red and white-striped shirts with black shorts.

The 1919 Copa del Rey final was an association football match between Arenas Club de Getxo and FC Barcelona on 18 May 1919 at the Martínez Campos stadium in Madrid. It was the deciding match of the Spanish cup competition, the Copa del Rey. Both teams progressed through a quarterfinal and a semifinal round to reach the final, with Barcelona going undefeated throughout the tournament. The final was attended by a crowd of 8,000 spectators with all tickets having been sold out. With the match tied 2–2 at the end of regular time, Arenas were able to use their superior endurance to win 5–2 in extra time thanks to goals by Florencio Peña and Juan Ibaibarriaga as well as a hat-trick from Félix Sesúmaga. This victory gave Arenas their first and only national cup title.
Tiro del Pichón, also known as Campo del Retiro (Retiro), or Campo de la Rana, was the first football pitch of Real Madrid between 1901 and 1902. They were not an official club at that time, playing friendly games on this field. Meetings were held there until 1903, the date the entity moved to the Campo de Jorge Juan.
Campo de O'Donnell was Atlético Madrid's main stadium between 1913 and 1923. It should not be confused with Atlético's fierce rivals Real Madrid's Campo de O'Donnell, which had the same name and was situated 200 meters away on the same boulevard called Calle de O'Donnell. On the other hand, the Atletico stadium was located in the block formed by the streets of O'Donnell, Narváez and Menorca. Atlético Madrid moved from Tiro del Pichón in 1913. The New Foot-Ball Club, especially known by its original name of (Society) Foot-ball Sky, was a Spanish football club based in Madrid that was founded in 1897 by Cambridge and Oxford University graduates, and dissolved in 1903 due to internal differences and numerous splits in its 6-year history. In 1900, a conflict between Sky Football members caused some of them to leave and found a new club that would later become Real Madrid, and in 1901, a new split within the club led to the creation of Club Español de Madrid, and finally, in January 1903, a new and definitive split led to the disappearance of the club, with New's best players founding Internacional Foot-ball Club.
José Enrique Niceto Goiri Bayo was a Spanish footballer who played as a midfielder for Athletic Club. He was one of the most important footballers in the amateur beginnings of Athletic Club, being among the 7 founders of the club in 1898, and then serving the club as a player, winning both the 1902 Copa de la Coronación and 1903 Copa del Rey, which were the club's very first piece of silverware. He was then involved in the foundation of Club Athletic de Madrid in 1903.
The Solar de Estrada, also known as Campo de Estrada, was a piece of land used as a football pitch by Madrid FC in its early years in 1900. It is best known for being regarded as the first settlement in the beginnings of Madrid FC, who were not even an official club at that time, playing several friendly games on this field before moving to Tiro del Pichón and Campo de Jorge Juan.
Manuel Vallarino de Iraola was a Spanish footballer who played as a forward for Madrid FC and Español de Madrid. He also served as the third president of New Foot-Ball Club, and he was the team's captain at the 1902 Copa de la Coronación. He was part of the historic Madrid team that played in the first-ever Copa del Rey in 1903.
Eugenio Bisbal López-Brea was a Spanish footballer who played as a midfielder for Madrid FC, with whom he won the 1905 Copa del Rey.
Enrique Varela de Seijas was a Spanish illustrator of the first third of the 20th century and a footballer who was one of the founders of Madrid FC, serving the club as its vice-president.
