Camponay Falls is located in Camponay Village in barangay Tabontabon, Sibagat, Agusan del Sur in the southern Philippine island of Mindanao. A cave can be found in the middle of the waterfalls within a secondary forests which is a potential for local outdoor and recreation site. Listed as one of the attractive landmarks in the Province of Agusan del Sur. [1]

Etymology

Camponay Falls and Camponay Cave were named after its village name Sitio "Camponay".

The earlier settlers on this place named the place as "Camponay" which derived from the word "Campo" or "camp" where a military camp was established in early years.

Geography

Camponay Waterfalls and Cave is located in the hinterlands of a remote village of Camponay, Barangay Tabontabon, Sibagat, Agusan del Sur.

It is 2.5 km away from the NRJ junction of Eureka, Tabon-tabon Pan-Philippine Maharlika Highway (Agusan - Davao Road).

It is 20.5 km away from Butuan City and 13.5 km away from Barangay Poblacion, Sibagat, Agusan del Sur via Maharlika Highway.

It entails around an hour of trekking in order to get to the scenic destination of Camponay Waterfalls and Cave. [2]

Sibagat River

Sibagat River is a stream located in Sibagat, Agusan del Sur, Caraga Region, Philippines. It is a tributary of the larger Wawa River with headwaters located in the mountain boundaries of Sibagat and Butuan City.

The Cuevas–Bislig Road is a 46-kilometer (29 mi), two-lane national primary highway that connects the provinces of Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Sur. This highway also connects to the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Cuevas, Trento, Agusan del Sur. It lessens the travel time from the southern part of Agusan del Sur to Bislig City in Surigao del Sur.

Mount Diwata

Mount Diwata, also locally unofficially nicknamed Diwalwal, is a remote 1,261-metre (4,137 ft) high range of volcanic mountain and biodiversity area in Davao Region on eastern part of Mindanao island of Philippines. Rich in gold and copper ores and mines, it is spread across the 3 municipalities: (a) Monkayo in the province of Compostela Valley; as well as (b) Cateel and (c) Boston in the province of Davao Oriental. Laguna Copperplate Inscription, the oldest written document in Philippines dated to 900 CE, refers to Mount Diwata.

Padiay is a Barangay in the Municipality of Sibagat, a 1st Class Municipality in the province of Agusan del Sur, Caraga Region, Mindanao Islands, Philippines. The barangay is located at the northeastern tip of the town of Sibagat, and the northeastern portion of the province. Its population as determined by the 2015 Census was 1,627. This represented 5.34% of the total population of Sibagat.

Managong Falls

The barangay is located at the northwestern quadrant of the town of Sibagat, and lies along the historic Sibagat River. Its population as determined by the 2015 Census was 2,995. This represents 9.84% of the total population of Sibagat.
